The structure of travel and tourism sector consist of
various elements that are described below:
Tourist attractions: It is one of the essential component
of the tourist industry. They can either be natural or man-
made. Natural attraction includes some of the regions
like waterfalls, Blackpool Beach, rivers, seas, mountains,
etc. Such type of places is drawing the attention of large
number of travellers approx. 5 million people per annum.
Artificial attraction are those places that are made by
man having the motto to attract large number of visitors.
For instance, Alton towers is one of the famous theme
park that is whole enjoyable activities for a family.
Different other areas are Tower of London, London Eye,
etc.
Transport: This is another essential part of the tourism
sector. There are basically two modes of transportation.
The first one is railways. It has been expending and
becoming modern as are run by various private as well as
public organisations. The private one are improving their
services as they are competing with one another. Some
of the such firms are GNER, Virgin and Eurostar. Each
year, there are more than 5 million tourists who used to
visit with the Eurostar. But trip with trains has been
declining from several years. Second mode is air travel
that includes various flights having austere time table.
Most of the companies are offering airlines facilities for
the purpose of travelling.
Travel agents: They are someone who are responsible
for selling the brochures of an organisation. This create a
link between the tour operators and the common
civilians. They basically supply special holiday
packages. Large number of agents are present in UK. For
example, Lunn Poly, Thomson, etc.
Tourism development: Tourist boards are responsible of
offering information associated with the places that are
included to potential customers. Consumers can take
use of those information centre and acquire various
essential information regarding travel and tourism.
Accommodation: This is the one of the fundamental
requirement of this industry as civilians used to travel
for more than one week and they need facilities of
accommodation while those days. Such services are
being offered by the hotel managers that are associated
with the firm providing those holiday packages.
