INTRODUCTION
The poster will outline the different types of solution
to the work based problems of Travelodge Hotel. And
also it will outline the different type of communication
at different levels. It will also highlight the effective
time management strategies adopted by Travelodge
Hotel.
Communicate in a variety of styles
Communication means transferring or
exchanging of information between individuals
through various methods like speaking, writing, non-
verbal communication etc. Communication can be
done in two ways which are verbal and non- verbal
communication. There are many levels and
departments in a firm so the communication needs to
be without hindrance. In the organization
communication is of two types, one is verbal and
another is non- verbal.
Verbal communication is a form of
communication in which message is
transmitted verbally that is by word of mouth
or by a piece of writing. This type of
communication is preferred between lower
level and top level of management. This type
of communication is preferred because it
brings quick feedback. Written
communication includes communication
through memos, reports, job description, E-
mails, etc. This provides a record for every
message sent and can be saved for later study.
Nonverbal communication which means
sending or receiving wordless messages such
as gesture, body language, posture, tone of
voice, facial expressions etc. This type of
communication in Travelodge hotel will help
in demonstrating confidence, enthusiasm and
professionalism through active listening cues
and the ability to present the message. It is
best suited for lower and middle level
because they work together so they can
understand the body language.
Solutions to work-based problems
There are number of problems which occurring at Travelodge Hotel like excessive workload, low
staff morale, low job satisfaction, ineffective communication, and many more problems.
The biggest problem in the organisation is the problem of excessive workload. It means the excessive
amount of work that an employee performs in the organisation. Workload occurs due to pressure of work or
stress. This problem of workload can be overcome by prioritizing and setting achievable goals and deadlines,
Further, the manager will allow employees flexible working practices like work from home to avoid
distraction at time of work. In addition, the focus of assistant manager will be on getting more organised by
aligning employee work and task in one direction.
Ineffective communication is another major work-based problem at Travelodge hotel. It means any
disturbance or failure or obstacles in the process of communication. This occur because of lack of clarity and
conciseness. The problem of ineffective communication will be resolved by assistant manager by clarifying
the idea before communication. Further, the management will be focusing on communicating according to
the need of receiver, language, tone and content of message.
Effective time-management strategies
Time management plays a very important role not only in organization in personal lives of people
also. Time management refers to the management of time effectively and efficiently so that the right time is
allocated to the right activity.
The time management adopted by Travelodge Hotel includes setting goals and work objectives because
working without goals and targets is not possible. The goal set must be SMART that is specific,
measureable, achievable, relevant and timely. With setting goals, it also includes setting of deadlines
because it strives hard to complete tasks ahead of the deadlines. Also, time estimates drive the setting of
deadlines for delivery and planning of projects.
Prioritizing workload is another time management strategy which helps in meeting dealings and reducing
excessive work load and tendencies. This time management approach is beneficial for the management of
Travelodge as it supports systemic arrangement of staff according to individual roles and responsibilities.
Incorporating this strategy will support the management in managing motivation among employees at
workplace.
