INTRODUCTION
Employability skills can be defined as abilities which help in developing expertise level,
knowledge base and mentality that is very much important for organisational success. These
skills are considered as mandatory qualifications to engage in job positions. So it can be said that
for employment success every individual have to gain employability skills. In other words, to
grow and develop professional life every employer or employee has enhanced their skills which
can lead them to higher level of success. If enterprise have high talented human resource than it
can compete in market place and also can enhance its financial profit. This project report is based
on Travelodge which is one of the leading travel agency (Wilton, 2011). In this project, set of
self-responsibilities and performance objectives have been discussed to develop working
conditions. Also, development of interpersonal and transferable skills has been evaluated. At last,
this project is having dynamics of working with other and strategies to solve work related
problems. These are the core concepts through which travel company can improve and develop
employability skills within workplace.
TASK1
1.1 Set of own responsibilities and performance objectives
It is very much important for business manager to understand his responsibilities and
objectives so that he can accomplish organisational goals and objectives in an effective manner.
As being a leader of Travelodge, it is very much essential for me to determine my duties and
responsibilities in organisation, so that I can work according to them. The main roles of mine are
following as under:
Collect market information: This is the most important role of mine. For better growth
of business it is very much essential to collect important information about marketplace. Through
this I can understand different rends of market and can organisational strategies according to
them (Katzenbach and Smith, 2015).
Work ethically: Being a business manager of Travelodge it is responsibility of mine to
work in ethical manner, so that company can reach to higher level of success.
Decision making: Organisational success or failure totally depends on that how much
effective its strategies are. So it is essential role of mine to make efficient and systematic
decisions so that company can get higher financial profit.

Create good relations: For better growth of company it is necessary to have healthy
working environment within workplace. Through effective communication with seniors and
juniors I can make good working conditions (Drucker, 2013).
Hence, these are my own responsibilities which are required to accomplish organisational
goals. Apart from this, there are also some performance objectives of mine which can guide me
to take correct actions and these are discussed below:
Salary level: By incrementing my salary I can motivate myself to enhance my
performance which will result in high financial profit of organisation.
Paired comparison: Through comparing myself with other I can evaluate my position
and performance which can help me in performance improvement.
Moreover, being a manger I have to perform various responsibilities and also have to sett
different objectives, which should be completed in minimum time period. Some of my personal
responsibilities are team work and time management. Along with this I have to improve my
communication and problem solving skills. To manage a organization I need to be very much
cooperative and interactive with other staff members of company. To attain these skills I have to
set some objectives which are follows as under:

First of all I have to learn time management so
that I can increase my productivity.
For learning time management skills I need 2
to 3 weeks.
Problem solving is another important skills by
which I can reduce chances of industrial
disputes.
Organizational problems can be solve only if
there is health working environment. For
creating good working environment I need
time period of at least 1 week.
By improving my communication skills I can
interact and cooperate with other employees.
For improving my communication skills I
needs 2 to 3 months.
1.2 Own effectiveness against defined objectives
Above mentioned objectives should be achieved in given time period. If they will be not
accomplish then I can suffer from many problems. So, I have to determine effectiveness of my
objectives which can be done by evaluating their time period which I have set. Once time period

id completed then I should identify the changes which have took place within me. It is highly
important that changes must results in desired results. I should also determine the reasons that
why I have set those objectives. Successful accomplishment of objectives represents that I have
utilise all available resources in effective and systematic manner.
It is very much essential for me to evaluate my own effectiveness against those objectives
which are assigned to me by organisation. Apart form this, there are some other ways through
which I can determine my effectiveness against my objectives and these are follows as under:
Quality and acceptance of responsibility of self-job: My job can be accepted by
organisation if I can provide better services to customers, utilise resources and authority
in an effective manner. To perform very well I can use various methods of quality
measurements.
Managing self-job: It is very much important for me to manage my job otherwise I
cannot help organisation in accomplishing its goals and objectives (Bardach and
Patashnik, 2015). Job weight can be managed by allocated time limit. At the time of job
hand over, it should be determined that next person is high qualified to perform that job.
Application of the knowledge and understanding of responsibility of council: For
better growth of organisation, it is necessary that I and my staff members have good
relation with each other. It is duty of mine to assign responsibilities to employees
according to policies and plans of Travelodge.
Maintenance safety of society: It should be the main purpose of every company. Being
a business manager it is necessary for me to manage safety of society.
Managing changes: Modifications are integral part of business environment so it is my
main duty to work according those changes otherwise I cannot achieve organisational
goals and objectives.
Furthermore, through evaluating above mentioned points I can measure my own
effectiveness against organisational objective. Without measuring my efficiency I cannot
accomplish different goals of company (Biron, Farndale and Paauwe, 2011).
1.3 Recommendations for improvement
Being a manager I should improve and develop my roles and responsibilities. By
accomplishing and improving my objectives I can increase my productivity. So, there are various
areas in which I can improve my objectives and these are follows as under:

For improving time management skills, individual can prepare a effective schedule. By
doing this he can perform his duties and responsibilities in effective manner. By
improving this skills he can compete his task in given time period.

minimisation of cost and provide good services, these are main tasks which should be considered
by me. Appropriate monitoring through lower management can help in decentralisation of
responsibilities. There are various recommendations which plays important role in improvement
and these are following as under:
Reward and incentives: Every worker improves their performance in exchange of high
remuneration, rewards and incentives. Being a manger I can provide better reward system so that
employees can get motivate and contribute their efforts in improvement of organisation. In
simple words, if company will provide handsome salary to their employers and employees than I
will result in higher financial profit which will improve organisational performance in market
place.
Review management: Through continuous monitoring and reviewing I can manage
performance of Travelodge which can help in better improvement of company.
Opportunity evaluation: Managers are the key person of every business enterprise.
They can generate innovative ideas for improvement and development of company.
Engaging employees: For better growth of travel agency it is very much important for
managers to engage in business activities so that, they can get motivate and contribute their
efforts towards organisational growth (Said, 2011).

In business organisation, employees have major role as without them no company can
achieve its goals and objectives. It is main responsibility of managers to handle their worker
through various techniques and tools. Company can enhance its performance by increasing

efficiency and effectiveness of its workers and managers, because efficient work force can build
strong image of organisation in market place. Being a manger of travel company I can use
various motivational techniques so that performance of human resource can be improved and
these are following as under:
Reward and incentives: Travelodge is a travel company which provides various
travelling services to their customers. This is well growing company just because of its
potential employees and employers. This organisation can reach to next level of success
if it satisfies its human resource. This can be possible by providing them good reward and
incentive system. This initiative of travel enterprise can motivate its employees to
perform very well and also can satisfy their financial needs (Williams and Williams,
2011).
Self motivation: The most important factor of motivation is self-motivation. People with
high determination can make extra efforts to achieve organisational goals and objectives.
Being a manger it is very much important for me to enhance my self-motivation need.
This will can help me in improving my performance within work place.

Through using these tools I can achieve my targets and also can help Travelodge in

2.1 Solutions for work related problems
In business organisation, managers have to face various work regarding problems.
Difficulties of enterprise can influence negative impact on its future growth. So, it is very much
important for mangers to identify work-based problems and also find their effective solutions so
that company can attain its goals without any obstacles. There are various problems are
discussed below along with their solutions (Voss, 2014).
Communication barriers: For making good working environment with work place, it is
necessary to have good communication between managers and employees. Lack of internal
communication can decrease organisational performance in work place. So for better growth of
business managers should make healthy working environment in which appropriate level of
communication can take place.

Appropriate training: For better success of business enterprise, it is necessary for
mangers to evaluate performance of their employees because without them organisation cannot
maximise its profit. If workers are not enough capable to deliver their efforts then managers
should provide effective training and development programs to their human resource so that
they, can improve their performance. This will influence workers to contribute their efforts in
enhancing organisational growth. As Travelodge is travel agency, through giving better training
to its work force it can make strong position in market place and also can compete its different
competitors (Gruman and Saks, 2011).
Moreover, Travelodge have faced various problems because of its senior directors, they
accused various employees. This results in industrial conflicts. To resolve this work related
problem its team leader should find out the reason behind owner's misbehaviour. Board of
director misbehave with their employees because there did not trust them. In this situation, leader
should make good relations between them and create good working environment. So that,
employees and managers will work together and take right decisions.
2.2 Communication styles and appropriate manner at different levels
Every organisation use different style of communication. Travelodge is a big travel
company so it has huge organisational structure which support it’s in good or bad situations.
Management of organisation can be categorised in three main parts which are top, medium and
lower. Every level needs effective communication style to transfer important information within
work place. Through this appropriate manner business managers can lead company at higher
level of success. Horizontal style of administration is discussed below:
Communication at top Management: At this stage of business, people of top
management take help of e-mails and letters to transfer essential information. In this
marketing manager of Travelodge can write official email to other members for the
purpose of discussing confidential data of business enterprise. This is known as formal
method of communication.
Communication at Middle level of management: At this stage of company managers
use both formal and informal style to communicate information. Because in this level all
people have same position (Borrelli, 2011). In simple words, mangers of all departments
can use formal as well as informal method to communicate with each other.

3.1 Roles of people and how can they work together to accomplish shared goals
As Travelodge has recruited new employees in organisation to accomplish their needs,
according to Belbin Team Roles people are having different types of skills which makes them
shaper, implementer, resource analyser etc. as company has recruited nine new employees in
marketing team, here is their role and explanation of their support in shared team goals;
Shaper: He gives core attention to task and their completion. He always make efforts to
accomplish predetermined goals and objectives.
Implementer: He takes advice and suggestions from his co workers and the take final action.
They are are highly efficient and self disciplined people.
Finisher: He is that perfectionist person who make sure that each and every business activity is
operating in right direction.
Resource investigator: He motivates employee to contribute their efforts in organisational
growth and development. He always keep eye on outside world to identify future opportunities
and threats.
