INTRODUCTION
There are different personal and professional skills that are helpful for the growth and
development of an individual (Burnes, 2004). Personal and professional development can be
helpful in attaining the goals and objectives easily. This assignment will be discussing the
different types of concepts and approaches that can be used for the personal and professional
development of the organization. The assignment is based on the given case study of
Travelodge and the role of the assistant manager will be discussing in the report.
Travelodge is a private sector organization which provides which provide traveling facilities to
the travelers. This is the second largest chain of the UK in terms of the hospitality business.
There are around 20,000 employees are working in the company. The company is hiring skilled
and capable employees who are capable to manage the business functions of the organization
(Cunningham and Bennett, 2017). This report will be discussing the concept of personal and
professional development in context to Travelodge.

Self-managed learning is really helpful in enhancing the skills and abilities of an individual.
There are different methods of self-managed learning that can be used by the Travelodge.
Being an assistant manager in Travelodge I realized that the self-learning can be really helpful
for increasing the motivation level of employees by which they can complete their targets easily
(Diaconu and Dutu, 2017). The self-learning can be helpful in improving the knowledge and
learning the attitude of employees by which the organization can attain its goals successfully.
Self-managed learning is helpful in managing different situations wisely. There are different
techniques of self-learning which can be used by Travelodge.
While working as an assistant manager in the Travelodge hotel I analyzed that the employees
can use the self-managed learning for analyzing their own performance accurately. Personal
and professional development can be helpful for the career and future growth of an individual
(Dolmans et al., 2015). It has been observed that there are different techniques used by the
Travelodge in order to promote self-managed learning such as:
SEMINARS AND CONFERENCES
The management of Travelodge arranges the different seminars and conferences related to
self-learning which is helpful in the personal and professional development of the employees
(Glatthorn et al., 2018). The different events and workshops can be organized by the
organization by which they can motivate the employees for using self-managed learning to
improve their current abilities and skills.
SOCIAL NETWORKING
There are different social networking’s sites which can be really helpful in maintaining the
needed data of the employees safe and secured (Goetsch and Davis, 2014). Employees can

helpful in enhancing the coordination and communication between the employees. Being an
assistant manager of Travelodge I was responsible to manage the work and performance of the
employees. I always help the employees in their difficulties and support them in a tough
situation. It is really helpful in motivating them and they will also feel comfortable in the
working environment. The travel and tourism sector provides different tour packages to the
customers by which they need support from their employees and this can be possible by
providing them with a healthy working environment (Taylor, 2016).
