Homework Assignment
AI Summary
This assignment explores the concept of triangulation in research, a method used to enhance the reliability and validity of research findings. It begins by defining triangulation as a technique that validates data through cross-verification from multiple sources, encompassing both quantitative and qualitative data. The assignment highlights the importance of triangulation in building confidence in research data, generating new insights, and integrating theories. It emphasizes the benefits of triangulation, such as validating results, minimizing inadequacies, gaining deeper insights, and improving data credibility. The assignment also acknowledges triangulation's limitations, including its time-consuming nature, resource requirements, and potential for investigator biasness and theoretical conflicts. The references include academic books and journals that support the understanding of triangulation and its application in research.

INTRODUCTION
Triangulation is a research method used to check the reliability and validity of the
research. There are different types of methods such as data, investigator, theoretical and
methodological.
What is triangulation?
Triangulation is a technique that assist in validating data through cross verification
from more than one sources (Flick, 2018). It is basically the application of several research
methods while studying the same phenomenon. It takes into consideration both quantitative
and qualitative data for the study. The main objective of triangulation is to increase the
validity and credibility of the outcome.
Importance of triangulation
Triangulation is important in building and increasing confidence in the research data,
it creates an innovative way of understanding the phenomenon, challenging and integrating
the theories (Turner, Cardinal and Burton, 2017). The major importance of triangulation is
stated below.
Triangulation validates the quality results with the help of quantitative studies.
With the help of multiple sources and methods, inadequacies in the approach can be
minimized (Triangulation. 2018).
A deeper insight can be gained through multiple methods.
Inconsistencies can be removed.
It increases the credibility of the data and leads to stronger research designs.
Apart from the above importance, triangulation is a time-consuming process and requires
a good planning along with more resources (Abdalla and et.al, 2018). It is prone to some
disadvantages as well such as investigator biasness, theoretical conflicts and lack of
knowledge and understanding.
CONCLUSION
Thus, it can be said from the above that triangulation is required to be done with all
the relevant information. So, it is very important to select the method that best suits the
research.
