Answer to question 1
Based on the understanding of the readings provided under ‘it’s my job’ I think the role
of Exhibition Manager will suit my personality the most. Though it will take time to reach the
position but I believe in my hard-working capability and have faith in my caliber. The
employment role of an exhibition manager is very challenging but not is not problematic (Dann
2014). From my school days I am interested in innovations and developing new things.
Therefore, in later stages of my career opportunity I have chosen event management as one of
my core competency area of my Tourism Major in graduation. Tourism when mixes with
marketing and sales drive boosts me further to give my full potential to add success to the job
(Longnecker and Scott 2018). There is also scope of working with a young and motivated team
of event management. There is high scope knowing the unknown and exploring the unexplored
(Rogers and Davidson 2015). New business development and studying future business trend
have always been fascinating to me and this job role also provides freedom to be yourself in spite
of huge market competition which I think is the major factor, for me, choosing the job role.
Moreover, I am a self-motivated person and love to motivate and train others as well and also
appreciate other’s mentorship in my job role. I am open to challenges and love to be evolved
with this changing exhibition market.

The key skills and capabilities required for the job role of a Exhibition Manager are
courage to take up new things and challenges, increased knowledge of marketing and strategic
sales, good observation power, cope up with changes, leadership, multi-tasking capability,
financial knowhow, increased understanding of market trend and competitiveness, good
convincing power, empathy, team work and last but not the least supporting 360 degree learning.

successful career growth as an Exhibition manager (Rogers and Davidson 2015). Motivating
skills is a must to train and support the team which in turn will support overall productivity of the
organization. being empathetic towards co-workers will improve team cohesion and as a result
meeting deadline for event management will become easier.
Answer to question 3
Currently, I am pursuing my graduation and have opted tourism and event management
as one of my major papers based on my interest on this field. Honestly speaking, I do have some
skill gaps that I have already started working on, so that in future I am able to be in the position
of my dream job role of Exhibition Manager. My strengths in this regard are my skills and
knowledge. I always remain up-to-dated about all events going on in my country and try to be a
part of them if not actively then passively. I collect information about each event and evaluate
their success and failure reasons. This has improved my analytical skills which I think has
become quite strong in recent times and therefore my market know how has improved
considerably. I can understand to some extent the degree of risk associated to a new event and in
many times my predictions have been right. I have also started to be a voluntary participator in
may local events in recent times which has increased my practical outlook for events and
exhibitions. Though there are some areas which I need to work on such as I need to be more
patience and study things from a wider range of angles. At times I do analyze things but also at
times I am a quick decider. I need to improve my level of consistency and to widen up decision
perspectives I need to work on groups and collaborative works more often to increase my level
of team engagement and team interaction.
