What is involved in being a successful leader?
A successful leader of Tui-holidays is borrowing some attributes that help them to be an
influencer who can motivate and inspire their people by their skills. The prior responsibility of a
successful leader is to establish a level of confidence among their people that they can achieve
their trust. However, the leadership is not easy work as it has different types of obstacles that has
to resolve the leader with a great hand. True leadership can be established when both the leader
and his people are bound with trust. At the same time, the success of the leadership can be
established when the entire member of a team is looking for their team leader to lead them. There
are several theories that help to understand the depth of leadership such as the situational theory
of leadership, path-goal theory, great man theory of leadership and skills-based model theory.
The situational theory of leadership
According to this theory, no leadership style is appropriate however, the different style of
leadership is required for the different types of situation. Leadership and is a success is
depending on the definite situation of the company. Therefore the entire strategy of good
leadership depends on the situation. The good leaders should understand the cause of the
situation and then take their strategy of leadership. The author of this theory is Hersey-Blanchard
refer that a good leader should understand the nature of group working and that gain the proper
attributes that are needed to be a good leader (Thompson and Glasø,2015).
Path-goal theory
Path-goal theory is one of the renowned contextual theory of leadership that refer that
complements and compensation are the key attributes of a good leader that they can motivate
their team member and encourage them to give their best. According to this theory, the leader of
a team can provide their team members such ways that they can improve their individual
performance and that help organization to achieve their goal. However, the theory also defines

that a good leader can achieve a depth of knowledge that helps them to increase the level of
competency within a specific task. A leader should develop the technical skills that they can
update with the requirement of the ask and they can provide a depth knowledge to their team
members. Technical skills are applicable to the middle and lower level of management than
higher management of an organization. Human skills are also accounted in this theory that helps
to enhance a good skill of leadership. According to this theory, a good leader also required a
higher level of interpersonal skills that help they can communicate with their team members.
Leaders can enhance their ideas by their interpersonal skill however, it is an essential attribute to
be the successful leader in any organization. Similarly, leaders can build up a good relationship
and working culture in the organization. According to this theory, interpersonal skills are
applicable the entire low, middle and higher level of management that helps a leader to build up
good communication with their team members (Counselman et al. 2017). The conceptual skills
also required to be a skilled leader as it helps them to aware their people to introduce with the
vision of the organization. However, it also helps the leader to create a suitable environment for
their employees. At the same time, these skills are also applicable to the higher authority of the
organization.
Great man theory
According to the great man theory of leadership, leaders have some attributes that set them apart
from others. According to this theory a leader born with special types of attributes that help them
to be an important person in an organization. However, this trait also helps them to be
responsible to achieve the desired goals for the organization. A successful leader can achieve
their organizational goals by their skills of communication and help them to accomplish their
power and position in the organization.
Transformational leadership
This theory stated that a good leader should work with their team that they can recognize the
changes that are required. At the same time, this theory is also referred to identify and create a
vision for their organizational goals that help them to inspire their employees or team member.

members and can build up a suitable working culture in the organization. The efficiency of
leadership can maintain discipline among the activity of the organization. However, good
leadership can organize the schedule of the work and can manage the entire deadlines of the
work. However, it is very important and the way that leadership can be improved. Apart from
these meetings, appointments and other task should follow some disciplines that help leaders to
be developed. At the same time, leaders should take more responsibility that helps them to
recognize their skills and it also helps them to grow their interpersonal skills. However,
leadership can be improved in this way also. Leaders can think new types of ideas that help them
to achieve the organizational goals.
Servant leadership theory
This theory is stated that a good leader is the servant of their people that they can achieve their
organizational goals. Leadership can grow their progress with this approach however, it helps
them to increase their level of cooperation and communication. Leadership can be developed in
this way as leaders can attend their follower's activities. According to this theory, the leaders can
increase their collaboration level that plays a significant role in order to set up the organizational
goals. The top level of leaders can motivate their employees and can progress the development of
the leadership (Tetlock, 2017). However, the theory is also stated that the leaders can improve

leadership. According to this theory, the leader should follow their followers that required to
develop the leadership in the organization. The leaders should access the requirements of their
followers that they can recognize the desires. However, it helps them to empower their
employees that is very necessary in order to secure the overall performance of the organization.
The leader can develop the leadership by accessing some attributes such as commitment,
persuasion, development of others and persuasion. At the same time, leadership can be improved
by the continuous learning procedure. However, it helps them to grow their knowledge and they
can take different types of an idea by learning from everyone associated with the productivity of
the organization. Similarly, the situational awareness should be developed in the leadership that
it can help to determine the resolution of their relevant work. However, it also recognizes as the
remark of developed leadership. There are several theories that refer to leadership can be
developed and it is required to establish organizational goals.
Managerial grid model
This theory refers to the development of the style of leadership that is concerning the people and
the production of the organization. According to this model, managers can improve their
leadership style by the technical approach of tried training. The leaders develop their leadership
that they can identify their concern about the production and people that is the key factor behind
the success of leadership. According to this model, the leaders should consider the entire
requirements to the team members that they can approach their team members behaviour.

external goals of the organization. Management is the procedure that helps the managers of an
organization to control the entire disputes that affect the overall performance of the organization.
However, with the help of good management, the organizer of the firm can achieve their
organizational objectives and the mission of the organization (Bush, 2016). An organization
cannot resolute its financial and other associated hazards from their institution that they can
enhance the progress of the organization. Similarly, the management is to define the way that the
entire task of the organization is operating with efficiency and with good schedule.however, it is
very necessary in order to establish the progress of the organization as the success of the
organization is dependent on the activities of the organization. Management is helping to

There are some differences between management and leadership. Management is the discipline

that management is present in all sector such as education, sports, hospitality and commercial

organization. At the same time, the management of the organization is responsible for the overall
performance of the organization (Donate et al. 2015). Here they are not responsible for the
individual performance of their employees. They work with the report they get from their teal
leaders. The team leaders are responsible to manage the entire dispute of their team members. On
the other hand, the managers are all responsible to manage the entire activities of the
organization that they can develop the overall performance of the organization.
For example, a leader of Tui-holidays has introduced the vision of the project that is account as
project work for the team. However, the team leaders are here responsible to take the
responsibility of the entire project as well as he has to look after the progress of the particular
task. However, the managers of Tui- holidays are not responsible for any single project but he
has to take responsibility for the entire teams that are working for the organization. However, the
approach is wider here for the management of a company. The Tui management is responsible to
manage the overall operation of the organization and can secure its growth. However, the team

leader of Tui-holidays is responsible to establish the coordination among their team members
that they can give their best in order to finish the project work.
What have you personally learnt about leadership from your own experiences, on this
course and elsewhere?
After accessing the entire factor of leadership I considered that leaders are playing a significant
role in the success of the organization. The success of the organization all depends on the
performance of the team leaders in an organization. For example, I also found that critical
situations of the organization solve out by skilled and conscious leaders. Not every leader have
that kind of skill that they can control the situation that is required in the organization. According
to my experience, the efficiency of skill that a leader can access their situation is more important
here to determine the situation that has to be solved. However, the leaders of an organization can
never avoid the behavioural approach of their employees who are involved in the project work in
the organization.
Hersey and Blanchad’s Situational Leadership Theory
According to this theory, I can understand the leadership should enhance the situation that they
can develop their strategy to ensure the organizational approach. However, this theory is
providing an important approach of good leadership to communicate their employees that they
can tell about the future vision of the project that is hiring for the team. However, leaders can the
part of the decision maker but still, they have to coordinate with their employees rather command
them. After accessing the main factor of this theory I realized that a good leader should always
participate in the work with their team members that they can recognize the basic problems that
are facing by their team members and then they can motivate them in that level that the dispute
of skill can be resolved by a good manner. The leaders are capable to take the entire
responsibility of the particular task that affects the overall performance of the organization
(Thompson and Glasø, 2015). As I understand by my learning experience that good leadership is
variable for the working culture of any organization as it motivates and builds up coordination
among the team members. Therefore I think that good leadership is essential to motivate and
encourage the employees as they can develop their individual skills (Pyc et al. 2017). They are
influenced by the skill of their leaders and that is very important to secure the organizational goal
for the institute.

I have learned in this module that leadership should be developed in such a way that it can be
easy access for the employees. However, the leadership should be smooth and leaders should
increase the coordination level into the team. Apart from this, I consider that team members
should not be instructed but can be influenced by the positive approach of the leaders that they
can perform well (Boamah et al. 2018).
