Analysis
The article is about the startup of Boston which raises $150 million for supercharging apps
running in the cloud. CEO Ben Nye of Turbonomic in Boston said on 21 February 2019 that
Turbonomic is like EZ pass for the applications running in the cloud. Ben wants to do the
modernization of information technology by application updating by which the business is
running and as soon as possible getting them into the cloud. He is thinking of migrating from on-
premise infrastructure where they have their storage and servers to the cloud platform provided
by either of Microsoft or Amazon (D’Ambrosis, 2019).
There are many benefits of migrating the business to the cloud. Turbonomic will get the
advantage of cost-cutting as it will not require purchasing equipment and systems which are
expensive. Data will get protected by the disaster recovery as the cloud takes data backup at a
secure and safe location and protects it from natural disaster, sudden power failure, and other
crisis. In the case of the virtual meetings of staff, cloud facilitates the improved collaborations,
customer services, and product development. It will provide the complete security of data in case
the laptop or machine gets crashed. Scalability and flexibility are offered by the cloud with the
availability of information from everywhere. The flawless connectivity of internet will be
provided to the company by the providers of cloud service. Workers will be able to work offline
as some of its application allow for this too. This will help in increasing the productivity of
workers, and they will be able to maintain work-life balance. All the documents will get stored
centrally so there will be no need of following the stereotypes practices of email for sharing the
updated version of the document. It will result in providing greater mobility. So overall the fun
raised by the company will prove beneficial by migrating towards the cloud (Anderson, 2013).
