WRITER'S STATEMENT
CREATIVE DECISIONS IN THE PROCESS OF WRITING
Creative writing is just like an art – the art of making up the things. The writing should be
done is such a way that it will attract the audience, whether they are technical or non-technical.
The language used is this story is very easy and understandable. The reader can easily
understand what is going on. The story is very well structured and the format is containing all the
relevant information regarding the story. The point of view of this is to tell about the life
problems Vic is facing in the absence of his father. This narration suggest that running from
things will not solve the problem. One have to face the problem and make efforts to solve that.
The reason for choosing this form is to understand the feelings and emotions of a person
when he is alone. Both the chosen texts is having a relationship with each other and that is
peculiar habits, addiction from the things and places and social anxieties. The new text contains
the same understanding as it is having in Long, Clear, View. Both the character’s has lost
someone who is very close to their heart and they are not able to cope up from this situation. The
challenges faced in the new texts are similar to the original one, because both are running from
the problem of life, trying to find out the solution without facing the problem. The ideas shared b
by both the texts are almost equivalent to each other. They changed their living places but still
finding themselves in the same situation. Both have to face those challenges, then only they will
be able to over come such emotional situation.
NEW CHAPTER: A DIFFICULT EXPERIENCE WITH LIFE
Looking out at the sea, wondering what my life was like and what it would be like. I had just
come back from Tasmania after my holiday was over. Arriving at Sydney was something I had
anticipated as I would meet again my friend Harvey. Looking back, Harvey had been one of my best
friends, "Hey, do you want to take a stroll down in the Harvey’s mansion?" she would frequently ask,
of course, I loved visiting the Harvey’s estate. I also enjoyed her company even more, and my answer
was a definite yes. She paddled out excitedly as we headed to her house. Harvey was in her early 20’s
now, tall, beautiful in her way with long brown and shiny hair, friendly and very caring. Harvey was
eager to hear my side of the story about Tasmania as we walked down the beach.
Harvey: So tell me then, what do you think of Tasmania?

Me: Aargh..... You see, I believe that it is a beautiful place, I would love to explore every
portion of the town. However, I am scared of the security issues in this city; the gun shots."
Harvey: Being curious, "What gunshots?" –Laughing-, "the law concerning weapons and
specifically guns was passed, so what exactly is your fear?
Me: Nothing exactly. You know, in Australia, laws on State guns vary and Tasmania has no
restriction on carrying illegal firearms.
Harvey: OK, I see.
I did want to talk much about the experience at Tasmania with friend. As the memories of
hardship while at Tasmania were still clear, I kept rolling back to the events and wished I could undo
part of my past. Possessing firearms in Tasmania in the year 1994 seemed something fresh and in its
peak. I just left the story and we walked along the beach to refresh our minds.
Three years had passed and Harvey's mother died. It was a sad moment for her and there was
nothing much I could do to help her. Then, I was invited to live with Harvey after the passing of her
mother; it felt better since we would spend a lot of time together. One could not imagine the pain I
had when Harvey died. As a young person in my mid 20’s, I would be left out in parties, and my
performance at the college decreased drastically. It was as if my sense of education too had been
consumed since there were nothing and no one I could reach. The only place I sought consolation was
at the sea even though it seemed never to console me at that time.
Many of the times, my dad would caution me of the life I was leading. “You need to take hold
of your life and put yourself together, continue with your life, am sorry she had to leave us" my dad
said, I saw some sense in that. One evening, I came back to see him. My father lay, lifeless in the bed.
"I’m sorry, there was nothing much we could do, my condolences," said the doctor who had been
handling my dad, he had been having constant chronic headaches, I had no idea it would have to
come to this. After the burial of my father, as the only heir, I inherited his estate. I sold the farm he
had left me and started embracing a wealthy life. Perhaps this was the new life I had needed to
embrace to get over the hurdles. I never really understood people in this town, they were not friendly
to me and this made me miss Harvey the most.
Travelling overseas had been my ultimate solution since a new environment would enable me
to erase all the negative emotions. Now, for the past years, I recalled that gun laws of carrying illegal
firms had been made illegal in Tasmania. While still in Sydney, I thought to myself, life would be
different if I went back. There was more hope of living there as I realized that running could not solve

my problems, and neither could idle. I wished to turn back the time or change occurrences, but gladly,
I was on the right track.
