Tutankhamen died young, at approximately eighteen (18) years of age.
However, his cause of death has been the subject of quite varied scholarly
theories and conclusions. Did he die of an injury, of illness, of murder, or
something else?
The death of King Tutankhamen has remained a mystery throughout the
ages. The archeologists have tried to explore the real reason of the death of King
Tutankhamen but the actual reason could not be found till date. He died at an early
age while he was ready to take the responsibilities.
There are many theories that are attached with the death of the king. The
first theory is the theory of Ay. It was known that the relation between king
Tutankhamen and Ay were worse and that king himself killed Tutankhamen out of
greed. He knew that if he killed King Tutankhamen he would be able to inherent
the throne and would be able to become the next pharaoh. However it can be
mentioned as mere coincidence that King Ay was given the throne after King
Tutankhamen died aat the age of 18 (Harrison, 2017).
The other theory is the theory of Hormheb. He was the deputy of the king
and he might be held responsible for the death of King Tutankhamen. The reason
for this that King Tutankhamen was getting old and he was ready to take powers
and he was making decisions without the assistance of Hormheb. The new thinking

of Tutankhamen was not liked by Hormheb and therefore this could be the reason
of killing Tutankhamen.
There are however some other causes of death that are the scientific factors.
Those include that the king was suffering from some kind of infection (Rühli &
Ikram, 2014). Moreover it was found that king had a broken leg that can brings a
new light on the death of the king. In spite all such speculations the real reason was
not yet detected.
