1. Introduction
Uber has been acting as one of the leading organization that has been providing digital
platform based transportation. With increase in acceptance of the digital platform, Uber has been
enjoying the business enhancement due to the higher acceptance rate of the digital platform. This
report discusses about the PMBOK knowledge areas as per the process of groups and the roles of
the management. Proper assessment of the project management and PMI’s code of ethics will be
properly stated. Critical evaluation of the contrast project management is performed for proper
assessment of managing the variety of project types that will be intended. Proper application of
the project management tool and techniques and providing attention to the risk management
process is also performed. Hence wise proper reflection to the reflection style will be stated.
Performing capacity to succeed in the required situation will be well analysed in this report.
2. Discussion
PMBOK knowledge areas and relevant implementation of PMI Code of Ethics
The main concern of redevelopment of the app will be incurring the fact that project
management knowledge areas are needed to be implemented. This implementation of the
knowledge area includes project integration management, project scope management, project
schedule management, project cost management, project quality management, project resource
management, project communication management and project risk management (Kerzner 2017).
These are the PMI knowledge areas that are required in the app redevelopment case. With the
help of the project integration management, project charter is developed. After developing of the
project charter the main aspect that is taken into consideration is that all the phases of project
management will be performed. After this stage, project scope management is to be performed.

In this stage the scope of redeveloping the application will be stated. This will help in settling of
the goal of the project. In this section, the project scope management will be performed.
Requirements that will be essential for completion of the redeveloping process will be well
enhanced and hence wise the data are collected and proper analysis of the same will be
performed (Meredith, Mantel Jr & Shafer 2017). During this phase, creation of WBS also acts
important as a proper framework of the task as per its level can be plotted. After this section,
performing project schedule management is performed. In this phase of project schedule
management, the main aspect that is taken into consideration is that the activities that are to be
defined is well stated. With proper definition of the activities, creation of the WBS gets easier.
This will ensure that proper assessment of the steps that are to be performed will be well
managed (Schwalb 2015). Project cost management is also one of the major aspect that proper
estimation of the cost that might be incurred in the development of the application will be well
known by Uber. Controlling the cost that is incurred can also be performed in a manner that will
ensure that proper analysis of the earned value is performed. Regular project status is also well
maintained. This helps in performing the proper updating of the project status. Project Quality
management is also another factor of the project management knowledge area that is to be
considered (Schwalbe 2015). Keeping a check over the quality of the application that is being
redeveloped by Uber is also important. Hence wise importance of this project management
knowledge area is high. Project resource management is also an important aspect that falls under
the heading of Project management knowledge area is directly linked with the project of
redevelopment the Uber application. In this section, performing planning regarding the resource
management planning can be performed. Estimating the activity resources are also performed.
This section also analyses the process of developing a new team that will be suitable for

execution of the project. Performing risk management is also another aspect that falls under the
likes of the project management knowledge area and is well aligned with the project undertaken
by Uber.
As per the PMI code of ethics the values that are to be implemented during execution of
the project includes Responsibility, Respect, Fairness and Honesty. In case of the responsibility
the main aspect that is considered that decisions and actions that must be well shaped so that the
application development gets performed in a proper manner (Marchewka 2016). Fulfilling the
commitments that are provided before initiating the redevelopment phase is one of the major
aspect that is considered in this section. Showing respect to the fellow workers and the other
stakeholders involved in the redevelopment of the application will ensure that the employees will
be well content with the job role and hence the task will be completed in a better manner
(Heldman 2018). Maintaining a fairness in the project will ensure that the team members will
feel that they are equally important and hence wise this will result in better outcome. Each and
every member will feel their importance and hence wise they can contribute in the
redevelopment of the application. Maintaining honesty and transparency in the functioning
process will also be beneficial in execution of the project. This is one of the major reason that
functional process is tasks will be performed without any favouritism.
Compare and contrast project management approaches and appropriateness to manage
the project types
The project management approaches that are to be used for the processing of different
projects are Waterfall Project Management. This is the traditional project management method
and is generally used in the large scale projects, like event planning. In this case proper planning
is performed followed by project execution process, monitoring and closure phase.

Agile project management is also another project management methodology that is used
in iterative form. This methodology is used in the software based projects. In this case the steps
that are taken are scrutinized singly and after completion of each step next step is taken and in
case of requirement of change it can be implemented easily (Todorović et al, 2015). Agile
methodology is to be used by Uber for redeveloping the application.
PRISM is also another project management methodology. This methodology is used in
execution of the large scale real estate projects.
PRINCE 2 is another project management methodology. PRINCE 2 is used in several
kind of projects as this methodology ensures tailored processing for each and every situation.
Project management tools and techniques based on risk management
The project management tools and techniques that are based on risks management
includes performing root cause analysis and Delphi technique.
Root cause analysis is concerned with the roots of the issues that are affecting the
functioning of the project. For example in case of the Uber’s redevelopment of the app project,
the main aspect that is considered is that the root causes are analyzed and hence wise steps are
taken for mitigating the same.
Again Delphi technique can be as it is a project management tool that is based on risk
management. In this case the data are sent to few autonomous people and the data sent are well
checked. This ensures that the data are well analyzed by them. This includes the fact that the
responses that are provided by the analyzing team is compiled and are sent back for the review
purpose (Rowell 2016). Uber can also implement this tool and send the documentation to some
expert team, leading to the fact that proper assessment of steps are performed.

Critically reflect on the leadership styles necessary to succeed in a range of project
management situations, and their personal capacity to succeed in those situations.
To be succeed in this app redevelopment project of Uber, it is very much important to
implement some appropriate type of project leadership techniques. For management of a project
in a successful manner there are several of project leadership styles which can be utilized for this
Uber project. The first leadership style is the coercive type of leadership (Darling & Whitty
2016). This type of leadership is least used by the project managers and it is only used at the time
of crisis situations. It can have several of negative impact on the project but there are many
situations where this type of leadership style is required (Madrigal 2019).
The second leadership style is the authoritative type of leadership style. This is a
leadership style which is commonly used by the project managers in their daily operations. This
type of leadership style is used by the project managers for providing a better output from the
project. Here the better output is gained as in this way better results is gained from the project
team without having any type of negative effects.
Affiliative type of leadership style is also a common type of leadership style for
managing the projects and this type of leadership styles can be overused by the project managers
whenever required and this type of leadership also have a positive influence on the projects.
Democratic type of leadership style is important here and it is frequently used by the
project managers. This type of project leadership style consists a very positive influence on the
project team.

3. Conclusion
From the above discussion, it can be concluded that the app that is to be re-designed by
Uber has the focus in reducing the complexity of the application so that it gets easier for using of
the drivers and they can navigate the same efficiently. On the other hand they were not
convinced to compromise with the depth of the application. This report has discussed about the
PM knowledge areas that can be implemented in this project of redeveloping of the app along
with the PMI code of ethics is also stated. Proper assessment in the field of project management
methods and tools are also performed inn this report, Proper discussion about the PM tools are
also made in this report.
