INTRODUCTION
Management is referred as the administration of the company which includes setting up

of the business in production of products and services. Uber is multinational company that offers
vehicles for hire, package delivery, food delivery, freight transportation, motorised scooter
rentals and various other which is being based out of USA which is the largest provider in the gig
economy and also the pioneer in bringing self driven cars. Present report will provide brief
understanding role of a leader and function of manager and will apply the same in situational
context and will provide brief understanding about the same in operational function of the
businesses and lastly will demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between leadership
and management in contemporary environment of the business.

P 1 Roles and Characteristics of manager and leader
There are various role and characteristics on the part of manager and a leader where the
primary role of a manager is to ensure the daily functioning of group of employees or
departments of Uber. It also accounts to staffing as employers expect with the managers to to
interview, hire and train employees of the firm. There role is being also considered as with
setting long term and short term goals to ensures continuity of business operations. The role of a
manager in Uber also accounts with liaising where by although manage see group of employees
or department, manager communicates and provide relevant information to business parties. The
role is also accountable to various administrative work in company (Lucia, 2018). It relates with
delegation of tasks to employees depending upon the needs of departments, accounts to

marketing initiatives between various departments should be taken to avoid future loss. Function
of manager when the company is experiencing loss is to hire employees that are highly skilled,
qualified and educated who can prove out why they are being valuable and helps the company
not face situation of loss and helps prevention of the same. Manager needs to ensure that each
individual is suitable for the job role which helps in deriving there highest performance and
productivity as a result helps company to achieve desired goals and targets.

Many theories are present in the market for the leaders to select and operate in the
organization accordingly so that there is going to be smoother functioning and efficiency. There
are different methods and achievements of objectives and goals which the company can get
leading to competitive advantage in the market for a long run. There are different approaches and
situations which are present in front of a leader and manager so that there is going to be effective
working which is going to be present.
