For every company it essential to develop and maintain effective workplace structure as
well as culture because through this they conduct their work in smooth as well as proper manner.
Organization culture is determined as values and behavior which contributes to unique social as
well as psychological environment of workplace (BalachandranNair, 2020). On the other hand,
organization structure is consider as strategy that define how task or activities are allocated,
coordinated, supervised and directed in order to attain desire aim or goal. Organization selected
for this report is Uber which is operating in transportation industry from 2009 and it is founded
by Garrett Camp and Travis Kalanick. Its head office is located at San Francisco, California,
United State as well as their business is nested in 63 countries, there products and services are
mobile application, websites, vehicle for hire and delivery. The aim of conducting this report is
to understand structure and culture of Uber and how these factors will contribute to their
performance as well as it also include different models as well as theories.

Organization structure is considered as system which outlines the way according to which
certain activities or take are directed for achieving the desire goal and objectives. In respect of

how information or data flows among the different level within a company. There are different
types of organization culture such as functional, matrix, team, divisional, networking,
hierarchical, flat and many more. The selection of organization structure is depends upon
company operations, functions and location where it is operation or in how many location it is
nested. In respect of Uber their organization structure is hierarchical which help them in
conducting their operations and functions at the different locations at worldwide level

determined as structure at which every entity in a company, expect one is subordinate to other

organization structure contributes to the enhancement in organizational performance because it
creates a defined structure for communication which leads to smooth functioning at the
workplace. Moreover through it employees feel motivated because employers with them in
effective way which directly leads to improvement in their as well as organization performance.
By adopting this respective company has multiple level of authority which helps in ensuring that
all the activities are conducted in the best way that improve performance of firm through which
they can attain their desire goal as well as objectives in effective manner (Della Porta and Diani,
2020). It also allows respective company to pressure off entry level workers because in
respective structure decision are developed by superiors as well as they also provide guideline to
conduct specific work. Through this employee get proper guidance to accomplish a task which
help in ensuring that work are conducted properly with quality performance.
In addition to this, organization culture considered different factors such as their
expectation, philosophy, experiences and values which provide guidance to employee’s
behavior. It can also be expressed through member’s inner working, self image, future
expectations and interaction with outer world. Organization culture highly impacted on the
employee’s performance and their productivity so it is essential for management to develop as
well as maintain positive working culture. This is so because through it staffs feel motivated and
encouraged to conduct their allotted task in best way so that company can attain their desire goal.
On the other hand if there is negative working culture then employees feel demotivated that
impact on the performance as well as it also leads to conflict situation that directly impact on the
company profitability and market shares. The organization culture of Uber includes both
negative as well as positive aspects. Positive organization culture aspects include good
communication within workplace which helps them in decision making and minimizing conflict
situation (Freer and Robertson, 2020). Respective company also adopt appraisal and reward
system which motivate employees as well as they also provide growth opportunities which help

company able to motivate their employees who help them in avoiding negative organization
culture in effective manner as well as it also help in avoiding discrimination culture issues
properly or successfully. By adopting behavioral approach respective company management also
able to understand expectation and requirement of their employees through which they can
develop more effective as well as appropriate decision that help in attaining desire goal. Directly
or indirectly adaptation or implementation of behavior approach lead to enhancement in Uber
performance through that they can attain their desire goal by providing quality transportation
services to customers.

minimize negative organization culture at its workplace. This model is developed by Greet
Hofstede which based on cross culture communication. Through it an organization can determine
effects of society’s culture on the values of their employees and how respective value impact on
their behavior. By adopting respective theory, management can understand its culture; diversity
and civilization which help them in decision making process as well as it also help in developing
strategies related to business expansion at the national or international level (Poplawski, 2020).
Uber is operating its business and operations at the international or global level due to which it is
essential for them to understand culture in effective manner for which they can adopt Hofstede
culture theory. Through this respective company also able to minimize negative impact of its
organization culture which they are facing.
There are six dimensions of Hofstede culture model or theory which Uber need to
considered. From which first is power distance which means respective company need to
conduct delegation of power in effective manner because through it they can ensure that no one
is misusing their power by conduct illegal activities like discrimination among employees.
Second aspect is collectivism Vs Individualism according to which respective company need to
promote both culture at their workplace i.e. collectivism because it help in conducting work

develop culture in which every employee are always ready for uncertain situation. This is so

for Uber to adopt both culture because it provide equal chance to female as well as male

according to which Uber management need to consider both traditional and short term method
and planning as well as they also need to consider long term and futuristic planning. This is so
