INTRODUCTION
Uber is an American multinational company which is offering services to
company. The services provide better would include the food delivery services and ride sharing
services. The report is based on the case study of Uber drivers and the Uber applications which
are used by them, and they consider Uber application as the new boss. Uber is planning to
improvise application and Uber is taking the feedback and reviews of the drivers which are using
them. Report consist of the knowledge areas and process groups and it also includes the
management approaches and project management tools and techniques as well. Reflection of the
leadership styles which are necessary for project management situations.
Understand PMBOK knowledge areas and process groups
In my opinion PMBOK process groups are five process groups which are working to
improve the performance. Initiating, executing, monitoring and controlling and closing. Process
groups are groups which would operate in effective way.
PMBOK knowledge areas and practices groups
Process groups of Uber are working in the knowledge areas of the integration
management. In scope management it is calculated and analysed that the project is completed in
the successful way. Time management includes the time management skills among the
employees and the time needed for completion of the project. Uber has initiated the project of
designing the applications in 180 days. In project time management is important but cost
management is also important. Cost need for completion of the project mast be accurate and
project must be completed with the quality work (Yahaya and Ebrahim 2016).
Impact of project management best practice
There are various impact of the project management practices and process groups.
Communication between groups and employees which are working in teams is effective.
Employees relations are improving because of improve in communication. Leaders can track the
progress and manage the cost and time accordingly. Scope and objectives of the project are
explained to team members which are working in team. The risk which are in between the
completion of project are solved and managed in the effective way. Changes which are necessary
in project must be Done accordingly and as per the demand of the drivers which are using the
applications every day.
PMI code of ethics
Document Page
In my opinion PMI code of ethics are code of ethics in project management. Uber is
running the 180 days for changing and designing the Uber application of drivers. The project
management team or group must have trust and faith in each other for completing the project
successfully. Project and team must promote the decision-making ability among the employees
which are working. Ethics must be followed while completing the project because it would only
make the project successful.
Compare and contrast project management approaches
Project management approaches
Kanban is a framework which is similar to the scrum and it is focusing on the self
managing teams. It is working on the six general practices like the visualization and flow
management. Using feedback and limiting the work in progress are also included in the Kanban.
Uber is also using the feedback and reviews of drivers .
Lean methodology is focusing on the maximizing the customer value and minimizing
the waste. It is focusing on three type of the wast called muda, mura and muri. Muda is process
in which it the company is getting rid of waste (Varajão, and et.al., 2012). In mura company is
eliminating the problems which would affect the project. In muri is stating about removing the
overload and manages the situations effectively.
PMBOK is focusing on the initiating and planning and executing the planning done for
project. Along with the planning, controlling of work and project is important. Uber is planning
the 180 days project and team is working on project effectively. It is also including the
monitoring of the project and activities which are done by employees for completing the project.
In my opinion company must use the PMBOK methods in which the company would
mange the activities and also monitors the activities as well. 180 days project of Uber would be
completed and it is focusing on executing the plan. At this time Uber could not use lean
methodology because company would face problems related to the drivers and customers would
be satisfied. Lean method is focusing on method of customers preferences and Kanban method is
focusing on the self managing team. These would be useful for the company but at some extinct.
It would manage the team but it would not monitor and control the team and employees.
Planning of project is not done in the effective way and so would result in the unsuccessful
project (Nava 2017).

Apply project management tools and techniques relating to the risk management
In my opinion it would be said that the risk management is laying the vital role in
completion of project. Risk management tool and techniques are used by company for
completing the project.
Swot analysis
Swot analysis include the strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats as well.
Strengths in include the strength of the company. Uber can use the strengths and complete the
project in successful way. Weaknesses are weakness of company and it would include the
problems which are faced by company. Uber is taking the reviews from the drivers that how can
the company Change the and design the driver application. Drivers are saying that the company
need to focus on pay which is provided to them and increase the share of amount which were
paid to them. Opportunities are the opportunities for the company which are completing the
project in the effective manner (Themsen and Skærbæk 2018). Threats are the problems faced by
company, and they have to face the threats as well.
Brain storming is the process in which the risk is analyzed and review of the project
documentation and data which is used in project. Project manager is including the team of the
experts and team members which are working and are part of the company. In the process of
brain storming projects are completed and managed. The data which is used in projects is
evaluated and analyzed as well. Uber is identifying the risk and using the latest strategies which
would help to identify risk and overcome the risk factors (El Yamami, and et.al., 2017).
Root cause analysis is the another way to analyses the risk. It is the systematic process in
which the risk are identified and the use the preventive measures for overcoming the risk. Root
cause analyze is addressing the symptoms and goals of company. Once the risk is analyze the
company would take the preventive measures for overcoming the risk. Uber is also using taking
the feedback and reviews form driver so the employees would work in the effective manner.
Reflect the leadership styles on situations and project management situations
In my opinion Leadership styles are used by company for handling the project and
management situations which are faced by company.
Autocratic leadership styles
In the autocratic leadership style it would be stated that the company is using the
leadership styles. In these one person is controlling every thing and taking the decisions in the

effective way. The time of crises safety measures are important for company and employees as
well. It would not work in the effective way and employees would feel demotivated and
devalued as provided. Through these the employees are working in the effective way, but they
would look for the work in some other company (Barafort Mesquida and Mas 2017).
Democratic leadership style
Democratic leadership is between the Laissez faire and autocratic. Leader would often
listen to the employees and team members. Leaders would listen to the opinion of the team
members and final decision is taken by the leader itself. Leader is involved in day to day
activities and is more creative and thinking about the project and how to complete the project on
time as well.
Transactional leadership styles
Transactional leadership style is looking after the rewards and punishment model. The
team members are working defectively and so leader would appreciate employee and work done
by them. Reward would be given to this employee which are working in the team projects and
which are performing well. On the other hand some employee in team would not complete the
work in effective manner and so these employees would be punished. In these ways the
employees are punished and employees would feel demotivated, and they would not work in
effective manner(Anderson and Sun 2017).
CONCLUSION
From the report it would be concluded that the Uber need to focus on the project and
work to design the Uber application for drivers. The PMBOK knowledge areas and process
groups are improving the working of company in the effective way. Project management
approaches and project management tools are helping the company to change and design the
application for drivers. Leadership style would include the transactional leadership style and
Democratic leaders styles which would help the leader to mange the services and work in the
effective way. The report is providing the knowledge of how to handle the project and make the
project successful.
