INTRODUCTION
Every business organization formulates and run through business policies and principles that
define their values. These values and norms cause under business ethics that needs to be fulfil in
order to make a sustainable Run into long run. The business has their responsibility towards
corporate governance and corporate social responsibility and sustainability. Only, the business
fulfils all this responsibility is the most successful ones (Dela Rama, 2019). Therefore, this report
is going to present the case study of Uber by reflecting the issues and scandals Uber faced in UK
and become a reason to get ban. For that instance, the study will show about corporate social
responsibility and its normative and descriptive theory. Moreover, the report will present
prospective of stakeholders in relation to the business case of Uber.
MAIN BODY
PART 1
The Uber Technologies Company is a US American based Technology. It was established in the
year 2009 and covers approx 69 countries. Uber is known for its services of ride food delivery
and rental facilities. The business case of Uber shows that over is facing many issues and
scandals during the year into UK. As the country has many complaints and assaults put on Uber.
The main reason of the issue was that the Uber facing allegations of doing sexual assault of
passengers through Uber drivers. So that the country has took up the licence of Uber to operate
in to the city. It has found that 32 Uber drivers are known for rape or sexual assault and
abolishing the act of human rights. It has shown that Uber is not fulfilling their corporate social
responsibility which has lead to end up their operations in UK (Dufour, 2020). It is the first and
foremost responsibility of the organisation to ensure the safety of their customers and people of
society which does not fulfilled by Uber why not reporting the sexual cases to the police wait for
courts prediction over the judgement. It is important for the Uber to analyse their mistakes and
make more preventions and safety measures to perform in future. As a Uber has lower down its
image into whole world due to creating a serious cause of this issue which creates fear among
people do not use Uber rides more often.

Corporate social responsibility:
A business is working along with the community and Society as they are the only priority of the
organisation to fulfil their basic need and demand. Therefore society hold a special significance
for the organization that must be fulfilled by performing corporate social responsibility. By
fulfilling CSR responsibility, the organisation will set their positive image into the whole world
and eliminate the past mistakes or obligations from its core of business practices. In simple
words, corporate social responsibility influence the business today participates in social welfare
as well as maintain the environmental impact positively. These act of responsibilities include
reducing pollution, encourage reuse and recycle , work on equal rights and ethics of each and
every people into society , also to protect personal information of customers with respect to
health and safety matters and many more. This will help the organization to grow and achieve
more into the society by giving them a healthy and fruitful life by not harming natural resources
and fulfilling their role in making the environment eco friendly. Corporate social responsibility is
an important part of community which gives value to society my doing ethical business
practices. It is a broad concept of regulating voluntary actions towards business stakeholders and
the society (Edwards, 2019). These responsibilities make the organization kind towards the
environment and take a fruitful decision which does not harm any of the creatures of the planet.
CSR is a way to determine a balance between economic and environmental practices and
fulfilling the Expectations of shareholders and Society simultaneously. Every business performs
different activities to hold a special image in the eyes of people. some business entrepreneurs
fulfil their responsibility by donating and charity purpose and others support the environment
through carbon emissions program comma recycle and reuse, avoid degradation and enhance
Forestation. CSR gives an opportunity to the business to make a sustainable practice in order to
reform their image and promotes brand name in a highly competitive market. Making the
environment go green and reduction in carbon emissions are the major acts performed by
business to fulfil their corporate social responsibility.
As per the case of Uber, the company is performing Corporate Social Responsibility not in a
broad term which is a weak factor for the Uber. The company also does not provide any CSR
report which comes under the scrutiny and a matter of not providing information of the programs
and initiative. Some of the CSR programs that Uber perform is to promote Different culture in
their organization in order to eliminate black community and also encourage for women

empowerment. It is the major program that runs by Uber to provide a great working environment
to mainly women who belongs to black community in order to support their culture and
backgrounds. The company bring more women workers in to their organization to strength the
diversify culture in support underrated people who have disability or mental illness also. This is a
wise act of CSR that performed by Uber. Apart from this the company is not able to fulfil right
and responsibility regarding sexual assault and provide the justice to victim bye confronting their
crime. Along with this, Uber encourage to provide green ride which shows their eco-friendly
electric consumption that does not harm the scare sources and Planet (Gentile, 2017). Also, in
many countries the company provide green right by giving sustainable cars which runs through
eco friendly gases first of the electric vehicles of Uber are 75% more carbon friendly which give
a sustainable ride in some of selected cities. Therefore, a normative approach towards CSR and it
fulfil the Go Green admission my launching innovative vehicles and providing utmost facilities
to their consumers. But that doesn't seems right as the company does not provide any e proof or
evidence regarding their CSR and came in assault behaviour over the period of 2020.
Carroll’s “Pyramid of Corporate Social Responsibility
Corporate social responsibility consists the four stages which are most essential to undertake
while performing CSR act and helps in taking decisions regarding it. These four stages are
described below:
Economic responsibility: the pyramid consist four Responsibility in which this comes on the
last stage that shows an economic concern must be have in the organization. It includes the
responsibility to provide opportunity and maintain a balance of money flow into the economy.
Uber fulfilling this responsibility by giving basic wages and salary to their employees and also
empower women workers to make their life stable and independent. This act of Uber shows its
concern regarding economic responsibility by generating profit in both sustainable and
productive manner.
Legal responsibility: it is the second last but the important stage of pyramid. It influences on the
business performance and make obligations to act in a legal manner while doing business
practices. Some of legal laws and act are built in relation of it which the organization needs to
take into consideration (Gerasimov, and Gerasimov, K.B., 2018).. in context of Uber, the
company is not fulfilling laws and act regarding providing justice to their customer who have

been suffering from sexual assault n in UK . the mum need to take serious action towards Uber
Riders and sure more safety concerns by not licking private information of their customers which
is being the most regulatory cause in Uber history.
Ethical responsibility: this stage of the pyramid mainly focuses on maintaining the ethics and
value into the organisation. The ethics shows whether organisation performing their duties in a
rightful manner that maintains a trustworthy image among customers. Ethical responsibility
include act of kindness honesty and undertaking values before going toward any decision which
is not fruitful for the society. Uber has maintained some of ethics towards working by fulfilling
legal act and obligation which helps in maintaining the responsibility well.
Philanthropic responsibility: this is the topmost stage of the pyramid that focuses on practical
implementation of CSR responsibility of organisation. In case of Uber, the company achieve this
level by providing emission free electric vehicles and launching flying bike and scooter to give
micro mobility option for consumer by just requesting a ride from the app.
These levels of CSR pyramid shows that a business needs to fulfil their Responsibility in
respect of all the four stages. The pyramid has a step by step procedure that helps a company to
take decision regarding each responsibility. No stage could be neglect by the organisation while
doing corporate social actions that could harm any of elements of responsibility as in case of
Uber, at it lack from fulfilling the legal responsibility and ethical consideration in providing a
safe and Secure right in UK that impact solely on the licence and regulation of the company.

of an individual who is living among the same people and Society. So this normative ethics not

This approach of social responsibility influences the organisation like Uber to perform their

make profit but only by undertaking right full actions that does not harm anyone life into

the stakeholders retention into the organisation. The stakeholders could be the employees,
investors; organizers board of directors and any member contributed into organisation are known
as stakeholders. In order to utilise the potential and knowledge of stakeholders into organisation
there is need to make Welfare of them by giving equal salary and healthy working environment
which motivates them to work harder (Spencer-Cooke, and Van Dijk, 2017). On the business of
Uber , the stakeholders have perception over the company as it is one of the leading from who
come under controversies of social assaulting , malpractices and breaking up the law which leads
to serious injuries and not fulfilling CSR Responsibility in a well and effective manner. But still
the company is running into many parts of the world with the support of stakeholders.
Therefore, the stakeholders have influenced through these practices and some of them are
left the organisation in the period of 2020. As every stakeholder wants the organisation to value
the ethics and norms of society but that does not fulfil by Uber that results in termination of
employees and demands sustainable business practice to analyse the significance of right and
wrong into society. Stakeholder participation is a must for organisation to showcase their image
into market. As people believe in what actually the society is getting through get influenced
employees and their opinion (Wang, and Sun, 2018). Therefore, stakeholder perspective hold a
special place in business practices that reflect the behaviour, ethics and culture organisation
follow. Hence, Uber Riders came into allegation of sexual assault comma reason behind this
actions are the leniency and less security control over personal data of customers that leads to
give a free chance to Riders for creating the big malpractices in society.

This report has concluded that Business Ethics are the most significant aspect that must
be fulfilled by organisation through accepting principles and elements of corporate social
responsibility. By evaluating the case study of Uber it and analysed and evaluated that the
company needs to eliminate all serious obligation and take necessary actions towards giving
justice to victims. In order to gain captivated image into market, CSR must be fulfil in terms of
normative and descriptive approach.
