INTRODUCTION
In order to choose the server operating system platform for the business then it is essential to
analyze the particular needs along with the company sales and technical skills with the budget.
Linux has the power of 37 % of global websites and out of this percentage, 13 5.9% is a Ubuntu
with red hat at 3.4 %. Ubuntu server with version 20.0 4 was released in 2020 in April with the
latest Linux 4.4 kernel dependent on the open source software for server operating systems
which is a long term support release (Yusuf, Hendrawan and Afrianto, 2019). Ubuntu server
operates on the architectures which includes x86, x86-64, armv7, arm64, power 8 and IBM
system z mainframes with the help of Linux One which is designed to render good efficiency and
delivering results with limited resources and consuming less computing power. These servers are
famous and are cost-effective along with the scalable and efficient with the easy customizable
feature which fulfills the server needs and offers a different number of advantages in regard of
security, customization and hardware requirements. The servers can be deployed on a different
types of machines which offers the scale-out functionality. It can be easily adapted to the exact
business needs and requirements as per the evolution (LaCroix, 2018).

List reasons for your selection
Ubuntu servers has minimum hardware requirements such as RAM of 512 MB, CPU of 1
ghz, storage of 1.5 GB disk space, support of LTS for 5 years and maintenance support for 10
years. Reason for selection of the Ubuntu server is that it contains various features and benefits
such as it is free to download from the internet, Linux permits the user to customize their server
as per the specifications, server source code is available for coders in order to change and update
as per the needs and requirements of the business, and business only need to pay for the technical
support and maintenance of it (Shariati, Dehghantanha, Martini and Choo, 2018). Moreover, this
server is certified as a guest on a w s and Microsoft azure along with the IBM and HP cloud. It's
service manager contains the on-demand starting of the daemons, mount point maintenance and
snapshot support along with the process tracking with the help of Linux control groups. Snap
packages are safe and can be easily upgradable. it can be compressed in order to secure disc
space and are comfortable to generate and distribute. It supports Oracle, kernel-based virtual
machine, Microsoft Hyper-V and IBM PC compatible emulator and virtualizor.

Procurement process
Procurement process includes the various stages such as first is the identification of needs
for product and service which includes the identification of business needs and needs for product
along with the document needs. second is the finding supplier for product and service which
includes selecting Bender and weighing cost (Helmke, 2018). Third is the performing cost
benefit analysis which includes the justification of expenses. Forth is the proposal and approval
which includes the client approval and purchasing of product and service. v is the
implementation phase which includes the installing and configuration of the product and service.
Vi is the evaluation phase which includes the testing of server installation and requirements. At
the end seventh is the providing of maintenance and support phase which includes the updating
of the software and providing strong security to it. All these steps are followed in context of the
Ubuntu server (Hidayat, 2018).

Implementation of Ubuntu server
Implementation of Ubuntu server consists many stages such as first is the instalment of
Ubuntu server which includes the downloading of the file and booting it up from the machine.
List of instructions will display on the screen and the user has to read the same and perform the
settings as per the needs and requirements. Post installation of the Ubuntu server consist
upgrading of software in which the latest software patches are applied to clean up the server as
well. Shutdown and restart of the server can be done with the help of terminal. Uninterruptible
power supply is used to shut down and power on of the server. With the help of static IP address
and logical volume, user can configure the Ubuntu server along with the webmin instauration
group. After that the monitoring of the system is done by scheduling the one time and periodic
jobs and by securing the system. Backing up of the system and configuring Apache http server
under webmin is also done along with the configuring my SQL and usermin along with the mail
server.
CONCLUSION
It is concluded that server operating system is an important concept to study in order to
apply Such learnings in a real-world organisation. Ubuntu server is chosen for the project
undertaking to gain better knowledge about its installation and benefits to the business.
Therefore, it is important to understand the concept of Ubuntu server in the introduction part, it is
