Introduction
The report includes the happenings and the articles related to various cases of crimes
all over the world. It will include the methodology regarding the selection of articles for the
report as well as overview of both articles being chosen in the report. It will hold the
discussion regarding the articles and arrive at appropriate conclusion for the same.
Methodology
Precise of the first article
Knife Crimes in UK- Around 47000 of the knife crimes where been recorded till the march
ending of 2019 in England and Wales. These offences turn out to be in the highest number till
today. Knife Crime involves use of a sharp instrument like blade or knife for killing someone
or harming any person(Bernat and Whyte, 2019). As per the Section 1 of the Prevention of
Crime Act 1953, a person is not allowed to have an offensive weapon at any public place.
London has been recorded as he most number of offences that includes 169 over 100,00
population as in 2018/19. Also, there have been several cases of homicides as well including
the broken bottles and knives related crimes that poses to the number of 285.
Precise of the Second article
Sexual Assault crimes in UK- As per the crime survey for England and Wales in March 2017
as around 20% of women and 4% of men have faced some or other type of Sexual assault that
numbers around 3.4 million females and 631,000 males(Bennett, 2018). Around 85,000
women and 12,00 men aged between 16-59 have experienced rape, attempted rape as well as
sexual assault penetration in England. Out of all only 15% of the accused have been reported
to the police. 31% of the women have faced the sexual abuse in their childhood as aged
between 18-24. Most of the women don’t even have access to the Rape crisis centre. Out of
all the crimes the number of rape crimes tend to be lower in number as only 5.7% of the cases
have been reported are been up to any solution.
Conclusion and Discussion
Various measures have been introduced by the UK government in order to improve
the crimes and other offences in the country. Modifications has been made in the different
sections and acts as that of Section 139 of the Criminal justice Act 1988 it serves to be an
offence over holding any sharp object or blade anywhere by a person. There has been strong
law been regulated especially for the sexual crimes and rapes in UK, the law is named as
Sexual Offences Act 2003. The act includes various punishments for the criminals as well as
to prevent the happenings and provide justice to the victims.
