INTRODUCTION
In this modern world, people are focussing more on enhancing educational qualifications
so as to widen their professional carrier in effective manner (Florian, Rouse and Black-Hawkins,
2016). In this context, large number of schools, colleges, universities and other educational
institutes are being established in United Kingdom. This is contributing a lot in attaining the
same. Government has designed various local, national and institutional policies in order to
regulate these institutes in proper manner. The current report is highlighting the impacts of such
policies upon functioning of learning institutions like school and college. In this research project,
different educational codes of practices, educational principles and guideline is described so that
organisations falling under education sector receive an idea about similar facts. In addition to
this, researcher has focussed mainly on the following problems: current educational policies,
social, economic and political factors upon the educational system existed in UK.
Current Educational Policies and Codes of Practice and Guidelines
Governing body of UK has made several principles and legislations related to education
which is giving great impact on educational institutes of country. Such legislation could be
classified into specific and generic. Generic is affiliated with the role of faculties or teachers.
While specific is related to the the specialist subject domain of a teacher. Thus, it is important for
learning institutes to know each and every updation made in the legislation and rules associated
with education. Teachers should assure that they are following all code of practices made legal
bodies (Machin and Vignoles, 2018). This has been noticed that there are two major political
party namely Labour and the Conservative party present in United Kingdom which is effecting
on the educational regulations. Some of the recent acts, code of conducts, guidelines and law
framed by UK government are explained below :
Children Act (2004) : This norm is providing legitimate framework for carrying forward
the Green Paper Every Child Matters which was published in 2003. Its main purpose is to
contribute in the welfare of children by offering them various privileges related to health
& safety. For example, educational institutes should cater proper services to their students
so that they may not face any kind of health issues (Children's Act 2004, 2014). It is to be
noted that special facilities would only provided to children lying between the age of
birth to 19 years. If any of the organisation will violate this, then they will be tread as

◦ Responsiveness to the government and the needs of the public : They ought to show
liability towards governing system as well as towards the basic requirements of
learners (McGettigan, 2013).
◦ Accountability : Answerable to pupil and government also.
◦ Fairness & Integrity : Perform duty in integration with other professionals so that
fair services can be delivered.
◦ Efficiency and Effectiveness : Best services should be provided.
St George's University of London should also obey above mentioned code of practices. If
teachers or school would fail in doing so then they have to give justification. Punishment might

Educational system of UK is currently influenced by different external factors that is
social, economical and political. This can be better understood by below mentioned
explanations : Social factor : The society is getting advanced day by day, thus standards connected with
the educational system is also increasing accordingly. People are now demanding better
and high standard of knowledge as per their needs (Leithwood, 2013). On the another
side, large number of citizens are migrating towards UK who are not having strong
command on English language. As a result, demand of coaching classes or colleges is
increasing day by day. Hence, it brings lot of job opportunities in educational sector by
creating an attractive environment of learning. Economical factor : Since the requirement of universities, institutes, etc. are enhancing
on continuous basis by the arrival of immigrants in country, the economic level is being
optimistically effected as people are paying huge amount of money for acquiring good
education (Archer, 2013). This is proved to be very beneficial for government of United
Kingdom.
Political factor : Government of UK has made different rules and regulations which is
somehow strict such as Children act, Code of Professional Practices, etc. These all are
discussed above ; emergence of minor mistakes regarding principles mentioned in this
can cause troubles for violators (Ball, 2012). For instance, if any educational institute like
St George's University of London would not provide proper care (according to Children
act 2008) to their students then they may admonished by governing body of United
Kingdom.
