Dissertation: UK Government's Role in Preventing Monopolies - TFL

This dissertation investigates the UK government's role in preventing monopolies and curbing unfair practices, using Transport for London (TFL) as a case study. The research employs an inductive approach with interpretivism philosophy and a descriptive, qualitative design. Primary data was collected through questionnaires from government officials and analyzed thematically. Findings suggest that while TFL operates as a monopoly, it's not necessarily engaging in unfair practices, and the government is capable of regulating such behavior. The study concludes that the government aims to provide affordable and quality transportation services and recommends policies for pricing strategies and continuous monitoring of TFL's operations to ensure compliance with quality standards.
