INTRODUCTION
Tourism is one of the fastest growing businesses in all over the world. This will serve for various
motives of the visitors starting from the source of fun, for business purpose, travel to an outside
country, gaining experience and holiday through traveling the historical locations and for
business purpose. Heritage is the terminology which is mainly used with something that is
related to inheritance from the previous and gives pride. There are different heritage which
includes cultural, natural heritage and various others. This assignment is based on heritage and
cultural management consists of various tourism sectors of the United Kingdom. In this, they are
analyzing the relationship of developing and maintaining the growth of industries with the
tourism industry which is essential. The other important factor is to analyze the value of culture
and heritage which gain the attention of a large number of tourists. Along with this, it requires to
understand all roles and responsibility of such industry which are helpful in increasing
development and growth level of the associated organization.

Cultural heritage and tourism are one of the important interdependent and growth of the tourism
sector which show the development of preservation of cultural heritage. It can be defined as a
conglomerate of natural and cultural organization environment that is constituted of the
destination. There are around 29 UNESCO which are identified as world heritage sites in the
United Kingdom. Some of them are attractive sites, natural views and beautiful destinations
which gain the attention of a number of people. There are various famous places of UK which
are attractive such as Henderson Island, Inaccessible Islands, and Gough along with some of the
archaeological sites and cultural places like Royal Botanical Garden, Maritime Greenwich, Saint
Margaret’s church and Westminster Abbey and so more (Salinas Chavez, 2018). The
development and growth of cultural and heritage industries are described as follows:
Attractive – There are various attractive and famous places in the UK are gaining a number of
people. Nature and culture also attract outsiders. For example, Frontiers of the Roman Empire
that is also known as the forts of modern Germany. Another is Blaenavon Industrial landscape is
one of the most popular destinations and it includes cultures, buildings, railways, quarries,
residential houses and many more. Along with this, such locations have huge sustainability and it
can be easily accessed for visitors with the use of transportation. There are some places where
their employees are getting training for skill development and describe historical information to
travelers in the correct manner. Such heritage and cultural sectors are mainly attracting a large
number of tourists.
Contracted heritage environment – It can be seen that there are some of the buildings and
monuments which are hand-made and built by people. These types of places are mainly famous
for their design, beauty and natural skills or art which are made by architecture (Markwick,
2018). In addition to this, there are some man-made locations such as City of Bath, Derwent
Valley, Blaenavon Industrial, and Maritime Mercantile City that are mainly known as
industrialized destinations.

cultural properties. There are campaigns created at national level or international level people
take part to create awareness why it is necessary to preserve these properties. The management
of heritage and cultural sites varies in three types of ownership such as public, private and
voluntary. There are three organisation which have different form of working and at the same
time different aim towards these old heritages which resembles our culture.
Public organisations create awareness among the people and educate them about the importance
of these heritage and culture sites. They are solely owned by government and their primary
function is to conserve the heritage and by protecting them it will contribute in country’s
economy as it leads to the creation of job, funds generated through visitors, earnings and
ownership. Heritage and cultural sites are also a source of entertainment and creates an image in
the eyes of general public.
Private organisations main aim is the generation of maximum profit an many of the private
organisations create these heritages into five star hotels which generates huge amount of money
as it has numerous number of visitors on daily basis. These properties afterwards become the
centre of attraction among everyone in the nation and people through their wedding functions
and other ceremonies which makes them more popular in the nation.
The voluntary organisations are way similar to public organisations and they act as a volunteer
for not for profit organisation. These organisations income mainly depends on these heritages
existence and they maintain these heritages without retaining any sort of profits. The source of
revenue generation is by charging fees for the entrance and by retaining this amount for general
public contributes in development of these heritages.
