Introduction
UK university education is among top-ranked universities in the world with more than five lakhs
international students enrolling each year. For international students, it is one of the leading
destinations of the world. University education in the UK is among the best in the world and is
performing best consistently. Indian University education has a long history of its own and has a
long learning tradition. They have a reputation for world-class research. In this assignment, the
comparison is made of the UK University education with that of the Indian University education.
Both the university has some pros and cons of studying.
Discussion
According to Machin and Vignoles (2018), as compared to Indian University where it takes
around four or more years for getting a degree, a University of England offers the degree after
three or fewer years. More focused courses are offered, and knowledge can be gathered much
faster than it would have gained in Indian University. The degree is obtained by students much
more quickly, and student can start earning his income. This can be seen as a disadvantage, it all
depends on how the people have a perception for the same. The sandwich course in UK
universities is gaining popularity. Master or graduate programs are shorter in length generally
and are undertaken after the graduation of the undergraduate programs. Academics and
employers worldwide recognise UK higher education degrees and qualifications. Students
acquire opportunities for developing the knowledge, skills, connections and critical thinking
through the University which helps in driving their carrier. Opportunities for high-quality
postgraduate study are also available at the majority of universities in the UK with some of the
universities offering sponsorships for extending tier 4 visas (Machin and Vignoles, 2018).
Going to UK University is a great way for expanding the knowledge, getting plenty of support
from the university and experiencing the great student lifestyle. A student can choose from over
50,000 courses in more than 25 subject area. Johnson et.al, (2016) said that Inspections of UK
universities are done regularly by QAA for assessing the teaching standard, research and learning
for ensuring that the set benchmarks are met. Accommodation and Tuition costs are reduced due
to the short duration of courses. Chances of employment are increased by studying in the UK

University as excellent language skills are developed due to the support of the English language
which has great importance in the global digital arena. Different subjects are combined with a
single course which promotes close student-teacher interaction. Most of the universities of the
UK offer merit-based scholarships programs and opportunities for funding to the international
students for supporting the study and living costs (Johnson.et.al, 2016).
In contradiction Denovan.et.al (2019) stated that, although there are many advantages to the UK
university education at the same time there are many limitations also. It is important for the
students to decide at the early stage only, i.e. halfway through high-school, what they want to
become. Graduating early is an advantage, but it is disadvantageous also. Since it is taken three
years to study what others do in four or five years, students do not have time for actually letting
that info sink in or go deeper, and if the student’s college does decide to go deeper, next
disadvantage emerges. The studying and living cost in the UK is high as compared to the Indian
University education (Denovan.et.al, 2019).
As per Jeremic and Jovanovic-Milenkovic (2014), India’s higher education system is the third
largest in the world, next to China and the United States. India is home to a most cultural
civilisation of the world and India serves as the backbone to the modern world due to the rich
contribution in the fields of science, math, and literature from the ancient times. Standards and
quality of education imparted in Indian University are competent enough for meeting the
international standards. In comparison to the UK University education system, Indian premier
educational institutes being of international repute they are much economical. Education loan is
easily available in India. By 2020, India along with China will produce 40% of the graduate
talent pipeline of the world. The students can learn many cultural and ethical values by studying
at Indian University which is lacking in the UK University (Jeremic and Jovanovic-Milenkovic,
2014).
In addition to this Savithri and Prathap (2015), mentioned that quality of education in Indian
Universities is not of that level as is in UK universities. Even though the standards of the course
available across Indian colleges are developing, but there still seems lacking opportunities for
skill’s practical application learned through conceptual understanding. Due to this the students
studying from the Indian University finds it tough or struggle in getting jobs or placements after

graduation. The reason behind this is the education system of Indian Universities is not
influential as their main focus is on rote learning for remembering concepts rather understanding
them. Any scientific vision is not provided towards what is studied. It does not focus on
knowledge the main focus is on marks (Savithri and Prathap, 2015).
Conclusion
Hence it can be concluded that both the Universities are good in their way. But it is preferred to
pursue a UK University for education. The degree of UK University is appreciated and
recognised in the entire world. The top-notch distinguished methodology of teaching, excellent
infrastructure of education, diverse culture of UK and rich heritage make it an amazing and
attractive place for studying. It provides great opportunities to students for their personal and
professional development enhancing their knowledge and learning to provide numerous paths for
the career. In UK Universities if compared to Indian University engage students in active
learning through case studies, practical-offs on-campus experience, class participation and
dialogue exchange which make learning meaningful and fun. A benefit of studying in the UK is
much tempting which can’t be resisted, and this is the reason that many students are deciding to
study at UK University. Indian University education is an immense need to make improvements
in the transparency and quality of the education system.
