A) Primary and secondary data

IMPACT OF CORONAVIRUS ON LABOUR MARKET
The health and social care sector has been horrendously affected by the pandemics. The
labour market is very dynamic in the sector, specifically after attack of Covid-19, it is
experiencing severe changes.
The health and social care sector is heavily affected by the labour market structure. In last
24 months the unemployment has been horrific in nature and affected business and finance
sector. In the year 2020 it has been decreased to 4.34% and market was showing good progress
but due to attack of Covid-19 it got disturbed. In the year 2021 it came to 4.1%in the fourth
quarter and has been lowest since 2020, second quarter, so market was experiencing growth. In
the year 2021 around 1.8 million people were engaged in the sector, As the information shared

that unemployment rate which was 4.1% in April 2020 surged to 4.8% till the year 2021 April.
At the same time employment rate which was around 75.8% in April 2020, and in February 2021
came down to 74.7% (Mayhew and Anand, 2020)

medical and health services which is expanding the size of the sector and is also surging the
scope of jobs. this is strong reason behind great recovery and now the employment rate is going
up. in contrast, employment rate came down to 74.8% in April 2021 from 76.5% in December
2019. it shows that there is still need to wipe out discrepancy of the market.
in the market is has been seen that medical graduates and post graduates are not meeting
the requirements of the organisations since the market standards are getting higher, it is kicking
off this discrepancy, where job seekers and employers both are facing issues in job market.
as the chart is suggesting that after 2020 (Coles, Aristei, 2020) the market has shown
good progress and unemployment rate came down to 5, which was earlier notched up more than

having almost same need of better personnel.
the training programmes are having need to be improved. roles like physiotherapist,
occupational therapist, paramedic staff may learn better if postgraduate level study is essential
part of their training.
the market is showing good recovery and unemployment rate is also coming down so in the
upcoming time it may place challenge before the entity to hire the most suitable person for the
job so here it is suggested to keep this notion into consideration.
while making recruitment skills such as empathy in nature, good communication skills,
understanding of the role etc. must be ensured abiding with higher standards. for all NGS
employees national pay rates must be practised, so can eradicate the issues of proper payment.
graduate and post graduate medical students are getting jeopardies while being recruited so it is
essential for the organisations to convince them with better development and educational
programmes so can make them perform with their full potential. these suggestions will be paving
way for eradicating issues of job market due to hit of pandemic.
