Today travelling around the world has become much more convenient than it was in
previous years (Wang, Xiang and Fesenmaier 2014). People not only travel for leisure or
business purposes but also for an educational purpose (Stoner et al. 2014). The paper aims to
discuss the way the UK has been attracting more tourist each year by modifying its policies and
laws in regard to immigrants.
Tourism and globalization are certainly interconnected where one shapes the other
(Dwyer 2015). Edu-tourism or educational-tourism is a type of tourism under the category of
tourism. The UK is well aware that International students are the key source of funding and they
make a significant contribution to the country’s economy. The UK government has released a
white paper on its post-Brexit visas and immigration strategy that are aimed to benefit
International students. Uk has developed a skill-based approach to ensure the UK gets the best
and brightest migrants across the world. For international students, the country has altered its
policy. The student with a complete degree can stay in the country for work, providing career
opportunities to the students. The UK has also allowed for students to be able to apply to switch
into the skilled workers (Altbach 2015).
Apart from policies, UK universities are providing easily accessible information to make
the information available to international students. It offers virtual tours of the universities and
campuses engaging it with infographics (Arthur eta l., 2015).
Although one of the top preferable host country for education in the UK, the country
certainly is taking actions to welcome more international students. The issues of racism, high fee
structure and culture shock are some of the problem that makes international student think
several times before considering a education-tourism in the UK (Newsome and Cooper 2016)
