deforestation, pollution, soil erosion and wastes. Additionally, rise in total population can also
augment existed issues of the nation such as housing crisis and deficiency in supply (Ahlburg,
Kelley and Mason 2013). In case of UK, this puts pressure on their infrastructure and transport
network. On the contrary, the increasing population enhances the productive capacity of UK and
helps them to avoid demographic time bomb with the help of improvement in tax revenue. The

down growth of population. The government attempting to address adverse affect of increase in
population, the people of the country will observe huge change in its landscape and rise in

metering in those some region of this nation where supply of water is scarce.
Rapid growth in world population also exerts pressure on existing resources as well as
facilities for delivering quality education. The schools in UK have come under rising strain
owing to increase in population by near about 100,000 in the year 2017. As the total number of
pupil increases at faster rate, it creates difficulty for the UK government to build more schools in
the nation. As the department for Education in UK only funds a portion of any new school that
is to be build, it adversely impacts the individuals since it requires their money to be funded in it
(Adams 2018). Even the pressure for secondary as well as primary schools in this nation has
been much larger as compared to other nations. However, it is predicted that this country will get
less funds in comparison with its requirement in future. The local authorities of this country have
been putting huge effort to create extra places by expanding their existing schools. In addition,
the lag of time that is involved in creating new capacity means that the schools might be forced
to utilize temporary classrooms.
Poverty is considered as one of the main issues that every nation is facing over the past
few decades due to fast growing population. Recent evidences reveals that high growth rate of
population is the major factor that leads to enhanced level of inequality. However, reduction in
poverty level becomes highly difficult owing to increase in size of households. Despite UK being
a developed nation, there has been rise in poverty level as the standard of living for the people
falling under lower income group becomes lower (Bulman 2018). Furthermore, these people
have been struggling to buy a residence due to increase in cost of housing as result of rising
population. For this reason, the UK government has also taken several steps for reducing poverty
level such as reduction in tax for the lower income people.

The two methods by which the government can slow down growth in population are
given below-
 Spreading education – The government must adopt measures regarding spread of
education as it changes people’s outlook regarding early marriages (Eager 2017).
 Raising the women status- The government must take steps for raising women status by
giving opportunities to the women so that they can develop themselves socially as well as
economically.
From the above essay, it can be concluded that the UK is facing several difficulties owing to
fast increasing population despite increase in this nation’s productive capacity. It also
exacerbates already existing issues such as housing crisis as well as deficiency in overall supply.
