This business research project assesses the responses of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the UK to the disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. It identifies immediate responses for recovery, evaluates business decision-making in the face of major challenges, and assesses the potential opportunities and threats posed by the external environment and national schemes. The research employs a qualitative approach, utilizing an inductive method and interpretivism philosophy to analyze data and derive findings. Key themes explored include positive immediate responses like collaboration and downsizing, major challenges such as financial constraints and infrastructure limitations, and the effectiveness of national schemes in supporting SME recovery. The project concludes with recommendations for SMEs and policymakers to navigate the ongoing impact of Covid-19.
