Introduction
I have presented two analytical essays on two of the most significant problems UK is facing. My
first essay analysed The Impact of Global Income Inequality on the Housing Market in the
UK. In addition to how global immigrants who came to the UK to seek a better lifestyle is
affecting the prices of the properties of the UK. If the foreign investors and the working
immigrants coming to the country is creating an economic gap in the country has been evaluated
as well.
My second essay discussed how ‘The higher average incomes do not necessarily mean an
improvement in the average citizen's well-being’. I have presented an analytic view of why
the children from affluent families can have a healthier lifestyle and are more likely to end up
with a job with a handsome salary, and children belonging from the poor families are more
exposed to diseases such as obesity and most of the time ends up with job that pay low wages.
An investigative view of why the rich will get richer and condition of the poor people will not
get better and how this will increase the economic gap in the country’s society has also been
evaluated.
To reflect my views on these two subjects and to justify my reflection, I will be taking help of
Gibbs’ Reflective Cycle. I have selected this method to reflect my view as this method is very
useful to analyse a specific situation and evaluate the learning from the case. This method has six
steps- Description, (A detailed depiction of the situation), Feelings (the thoughts on the situation,
Evaluation (the positive and negative outcome of the situation), Analysis (the learning from the
situation), Conclusion (things that could have been done in the situation) and Action Plan (if the
situation arises again, what steps could be taken).

Reflection
In this report I have done a reflection of the two serious social conditions with the assistance of
Gibbs’ Reflective Cycle.
Description
People from all around the globe want to have a better life. According to many experts, the
wealthy foreigners investing in to buy properties in the UK, more specifically in London has
resulted in a rise in the price of the property in the UK. As well as, the working immigrants
coming to UK is affecting the prices of the properties. Many people think it is causing the cost of
the property where the working immigrants reside to drop (Zhu et al., 2019). The local
Londoners move out of the places where immigrants inhabit because the immigrants live in a
crowded housing condition with little to no space for individual people. But, after going through
many research works I found out, the immigrants have little to no effect in price-drop of the
property of London and UK, as the immigrants prefer renting houses to stay rather than buying
the property. My essay will reflect on my thoughts, and I will try to justify my thinkings to the
readers.
While doing research work for my first essay, I noticed the distinguishable salary-gap in the
country. I researched more into it and wrote a second essay on how the gaps in the wages are
affecting our society. The affluent people are getting a handsome salary; they can afford a
healthy and luxurious lifestyle. The children belonging from those households are less likely to
become the victims of any diseases such as obesity, as they are privileged to afford a health care,
in addition to these children from well-off families have better education as those families can
meet the expense of sending their children to a good school. People who are not born in well-to-
do families struggle more to reach an end. The children who come from economically
unprivileged household most of the time cannot earn an educational degree or complete the study
of high school due to the expense (Lucas et al., 2016). They end up with jobs such as janitors,
which pay them an inadequate amount of salary. I have learnt that education and health care
should be cheap so that people belonging from all the economic classes can get privileges of
having them.

I have observed that some British citizens think the foreigners and immigrants caused the UK
citizens to move out of London. Another concern of UK citizens is the working class immigrants
who came to the UK to search for a better life (Gest, 2016). As the immigrants prefer to live in a
concentrated neighbourhood, the Londoners are moving out of those places and causing the price
of those properties to drop. However, after going through many types of research, I felt while
foreign investors and working immigrants have affected on UK's economy to little to no extent.
The foreign investors are living in the UK are contributing to the economy. The immigrants'
effect on the property- price rising is very little. The immigrants mostly prefer resting a place
rather than buying the property. Thus, accusing them of price rising of property is absurd and
unfair.
While researching the effects of price rising, I had to study about the gap in the wages. This
caused me to end up doing more research on this subject. In the country, a person can only live a
healthy life only if the person has a well-paid job. Children from underprivileged households
cannot complete their studies due to the expense. Also, due to the expensive health care, the
children of the low-income family are more likely to be exposed to the diseases comparing to
those coming from a rich family. I can see it clearly that this social system can lead to rich
become even richer and no betterment in the condition of the poor people of the country (Evans,
2016).
Evaluation
From my studies and observation, it was obvious to me that foreign investors or working
immigrants do not have any significant role in the price-rise of UK’s property. It is leading to the
natives being racist towards the foreigners and the foreigners living as a secluded community in
the country.
My first essay led me to do more researches, and I was compelled to do more researches on the
living of poor people and their quality of life. I found out the living condition of rich people is
better as they can afford a good education, health care and a place that is safe to. I have
witnessed the lack of clearance making the environment unhealthy to live. Also, the crime rate is
higher in these areas due to lack of police patrolling, making these places dangerous. If all the
citizen of the country gets an education, the state will have a better future with better citizens.

When researching these essays, I realised while having a house is necessary, having a luxurious
home is not. Spending quality time with the family and welcoming people from different cultures
is essential. Racism is a dangerous thing that can ruin people (Mascarenhas, 2016). Accepting
foreigners will lead to a multi-cultural society and will enrich the nation's culture. However,
while luxury is not essential, education, safety and health are necessary. A child can get a better
future only if the child is getting the right education, and the child should feel safe in the
neighbourhood he or she resides in (Driskell, 2017). Education can help to make a better future
by making ideal citizens and decreasing violent crimes.
Analysis
I noticed citizens are ignorant about the real reason for rising property prices and are accusing
the foreign investors and working immigrants wrongfully. Also, after more detailed research, I
found out Building development for middle, and lower class people can help the UK to navigate
a solution out of this situation.
As per my research, the economically deprived people are living in an unhealthy atmosphere due
to lack of money. After the analysis, I have concluded that the government of UK should provide
scholarship programmes for talented but underprivileged students to help them to earn them an
academic degree. Also, the corporation should make sure the rubbishes are not gathering in those
places; this can make the environment of those neighbourhoods healthier. It should be made sure
the people of these neighbourhoods have a safe life ( Pudam et al., 2016). Those belonging from
these neighbourhoods generally fall victim of home-violence and attackers or muggers on the
street. The police patrolling should be increased in those in those areas to sustain a safe
environment for the residents.
From both of the essays, I have learnt that we can have a better life by welcoming new people to
our community. The immigrants live in concentrated neighbourhoods, which are more likely to
be prone to criminal activities, as they feel deviant from other people. While welcoming people
of the new culture will enrich our culture, accepting them into our society will give them a better
life, and if we stay together, we will be stronger and any individual will be less likely to fall
victim of violent crimes.

To write these two essays, I have done in-depth researches of our society and the problems of our
community as well. While I used to be ignorant about many facts before, after doing the
investigations, I can think and see events more clearly. After conducting in-depth research for
my first essay, I have concluded that the contribution of foreign investors and working
immigrants are not exceptionally significant thus, their involvement in price rise in property is an
irrelevant subject. Blaming them and being racist towards them will only cause misery to them,
but we won't have any solutions.
A lot of times, immigrants and poor citizens live in areas that are unhealthy neighbourhoods.
When it comes to providing a safer and healthier atmosphere to underprivileged citizens, I
believe the government should increase the police patrolling and make sure the areas are clean
and fit for the people to live a healthy life.
Action Plans
Due to my ignorance, I may have overlooked many facts while researching on these subjects. In
future, while researching on anything regarding our society, I will study better. I will find proofs
from journals and newspapers to justify my views and thoughts on any subject.

Our society needs more people who will be dedicated towards making the society a better place.
With the education I am gaining from my study, I will try to improve the condition of the society
as much as I can. This research has made me realize I will have to put more effort into academic
work in order to make myself better so that I can serve my society.
I have gained knowledge not only about the society I am living in, but about writing essays as
well. The knowledge I have earned while writing down, I will use them in my future researches
and essays. I will conduct more in-depth survey, researches, and interviews of the people to have
data that are more accurate and produce essays of high qualities. I was privileged of getting a
good education, thus I will try my best to do well in my academic life by allocating more time to
study and study related researches. I will try to find out hidden and unique facts about the society
and my research that will help my readers to have more knowledge about the matters as well. In
addition, I will be justifying my thoughts with facts and results so that those who do not agree
with my points can be able to believe in my views and thoughts. I will research not only from
online research materials but also from the libraries and newspapers as well to find relevant facts.
I will work towards improving my writing and researching skills with the help of my professors.
