Task 1 Planning the summary
Task 1.1
In business decision making, data plays a major role in educating the decisions to be made by the
management (Anderson, et al., 2015). The main objective of this research study is to investigate
the perception of students in United Kingdom Of Business and Computing (UKCBC). To
achieve this objective, a different statistical process will be used. The process will include data
collection, analysis, and interpretation. The main objectives of analysis are to make decisions
based on the college's business. This will be achieved by finding the opportunities and threats in
the college and investigating the strategies that can be used to deal with the threats. Hence, this
paper will present information that might be of great use in the process of managing the college.
Management developed a business plan for conduct research to evaluate perceptions of students
in the United Kingdom as follows
This study conducted to the finding of student's satisfaction and experience in various colleges.
The study needs to your primary information for acquiring data related to research finding in the
United Kingdom.
The sample size is according to populations of colleges and Sample is taken for 1000 students on
random selections from teaching and non- teaching student along with the national and
international student.
This study uses various statistically tools like mean, mode, median to evaluate and interpret data
for researcher which help them in drafting opinion which is based on research.
The study conducted to evaluate different opinion of the student which is based on their
experience of the student in colleges of the United Kingdom.
Data collected research is from the primary survey so 0.5% is taken a degree of confidence for
the result and finding from research.

Task 1.2
Survey Methodology
Survey methodology can be defined as the statistical techniques of data collection. It involves a
comprehensive study of the responses given by the sample population by the use of different
approaches (Zikmund, et al., 2013). The survey methodology that will be used to collect data in
this project will include the use of questionnaires. A closed-ended questionnaire will be
administered with the aim of gathering any relevant information. The questionnaire will be sent
to the sample population by the use of emails. The sample population will be required to fill the
questionnaire in person and submit. The responses from the population under study will be
recorded for analysis and evaluation.
Sampling Frame
A sampling frame is used to represent the whole population from which the sample is drawn. It
involves the process by which the number of persons in the sample is chosen and the conditions
that are used to determine the sample from the target population (Panneerselvam, 2014). If the
sample size used is large, the more accurate the information will be (Gates, and Burke, 2015).
However, the cost and time used in studying a large sample will be high. Therefore, the sampling
frame that will be used in the survey about the perception of students towards UKCBC from the
entire population of the college will be a stratified sampling method. The target population of the
college includes the past and present students, national and international students, as well as the
teaching and not-teaching staff. The stratified sampling method is the best for all the members
from each category of students in the target population will be included in the selected sample
(Vercellis, 2011). For the purpose of achieving this, 50% of people from each category of the
target population will be selected by the use of random sampling. From 50% of populations
sample taken as 25% and further 50% from each category. 25% of the population will be used as
the sample for this research study.

Task 2 Summarizing and analyzing the data
Task 2.1
From the conducted survey, data were collected for analysis. The researcher recorded all the
responses that were obtained from the sample population in all the questions that were asked to
them in the questionnaire. The responses from this population were summarized by use of
frequency distribution tables. The information given in the responses included those of different
categories of the population. That is; the international students, home students, teaching staff,
and the non-teaching staff.
The distribution of responses from the four categories under study was as follows;
Category Population frequency
Home student 63%
International student 19%
Teaching staff 12%
Non-teaching staff 6%
The distribution of responses among the past and the present students in the college was as
follows
Category present Population frequency
Home students 67% 33%
International students 83% 17%
The distribution of the responses that were received by the researcher about the satisfaction level
of the staff and infrastructure UKCBC, that impact the learning process of students in the college
can be summarized as follows:
Level of staff and infrastructure Population frequency
8
Document Page
Business Decision Making9
Strongly agree 13%
Agree 38%
Neutral 30%
Disagree 12%
Strongly disagree 7%
Arithmetic mean
Mean can be defined as the average of the values or the frequency. To calculate the mean, we
add the values of the collected data and then divide it by the exact number of counts. Therefore,
the mean can be calculated.
Arithmetic mean = X/n
(13+38+30+12+7)/5
= 20
Data collected from research is around 1000 sample size which elaborates that the answer to a
question that average 20% student of populations are happy and relay on the infrastructure of
colleges in the United Kingdom. We can, therefore, conclude that the mean of the data that is in
relation to the response of staff and infrastructure is 20. This means that the average number of
responses that were sampled was 20. Most of the population was in this category. Mean define
the average count of the student for the infrastructure of colleges in the United Kingdom which
are happy from the infrastructure provided to them from college is satisfactory.
Median
The median is the measure of central incidence. It is a representation of the figure that lies
between the entire total figures observed (Blumberg, et al., 2014). The observation is made by
arranging the figures in ascending order and picking the figure that is in the middle is observed
as the median. Therefore, the median of the above frequency table is calculated as follows.
Median = n+1/ 2th value
= 3rd value
9
Document Page
Business Decision Making10
=30%
Median defines the centre part of a study which reflects that students are neutral on infrastructure
for colleges in the United Kingdom. It defines that students are neutral for infrastructure as they
don't want to say anything negative or positive for the infrastructure of colleges in the United
Kingdom. Therefore, the median of the responses of the staff and infrastructure is 30%. It means
that out of all figures, the most middle value is 30.
Mode
The mode is the measure of the central frequency that dictates the most popular observation. It is
thus the observation with the highest frequency. To calculate the mode, all the values are
sampled and the figure that appears the most or rather many times will be declared the mode.
Mode= the highest frequency density
=38%
Therefore, the mode of the sampled data is 38%. The mode defines the highest number of people
who are considering a good infrastructure of United Kingdom colleges. The frequency 38% is
represented by the population that falls in the category “agree.” This means that 38% of the
population that was sampled agrees to the questions that the study was being carried on hence
making the largest population frequency in the study. IT reflect that Quality assurance of
colleges is satisfactory as more number of students and non-teaching staff answer that they agree
on the level of staff and infrastructure of colleges in the United Kingdom. SO study drive that
most of the people think that Colleges are adequate in infrastructure or level of staff as 38 % of
people from the overall population is agree on the performance of colleges.
Task 2.2
The results calculated above are a representation of the data obtained from the collected data.
The collected data is sampled and analyzed, and a summary of the above study is that the mean
of the population is 20%, the median is 30%, and the mode is 38%. This means that the average
of the information obtained from the sample population is 20%. The median was observed as
30% which is the third value calculated to get the mean. It is represented as the population that

stands for “neutral.” 30% is the value in the middle of the collected data. The mode in the study
above is 38% which means it is the population that recorded the highest frequency. The
population represented those people who agreed to the issue of study. The data analyzed and
interpreted means that it can be used in making decisions for the institution. It helps to draw
conclusions on where the institution stands at the moment and if any improvements have to be
done. The largest population of the institution gives the highest ratings of above average. This
means that the institution is in a better position to operate since the majority of the population is
comfortable.
The result evaluates from the distribution of responses from the different categories are 63%
from the home student, 19% from the international student, 12% from the teaching staff and 6%
from the non-teaching staff. So it is concluded that the highest population frequency for the
distribution of expenses is 63% and the lowest is 6%.
The result evaluated from the distribution of responses among the past and the present students
in the college were 67% from the home students and 83% from the international students. The
population frequency of the home students was 33% and the international students were 17% in
the past. So it is concluded that the situation has improved from the past.
The result evaluated from the distribution of the responses that were received by the researcher
about the satisfaction level of the staff and infrastructure has different population frequency. 38%
were agreed that they are fully satisfied and 13% were strongly agreed. 12% of the population of
disagreed and 7% were strongly disagreeing. 30% of the population has a neutral reaction
regarding the staff and infrastructure.

Task 2.3
Measures of dispersion
Measures of standard deviation help a person by being able to make good decisions for the
business he/she is running. The individual as well gains confidence in the data collected,
calculated and analyzed. The measures of dispersion are thus used in the calculation of the
variations that the population under study gives from those of the actual rating. There are the
various types to measure the dispersion such as the range, standard deviation, mean deviation,
quartile, etc. but there were the three measures which are generally used in the companies which
are a range, standard deviation and the interquartile range. It is considered that the standard
deviation is the best measures of the central tendency.
Standard deviation
It is the most commonly used dispersion which measures the spread of data about the mean. It is
the risk possible for data to vary. Calculation of the standard deviation in relation to the data
obtained from the population assigned to study in the institution is as shown below.
Population
frequency
Mean value X – mean (X – mean)²
13 20 -7 49
38 20 18 324
30 20 10 100
12 20 -8 64
7 20 -13 169

Standard deviation = √∑(X-Mean) ²/n
= √706/5
