UN Charter is a comprehensive part of encouraging and promoting global governance by
its multiple areas of functioning. They foster peaceful resolution of disputes between countries,
help in regulating regional arrangements and trade practices and also prohibit breach or threats to
regulation of peace. Further, all the six governing bodies constituting in the UN Charter, serve
different areas of governance where General Assembly is the supreme body whose assent is
required on almost all the decisions taken by other councils. Security council focuses on taking
swift and strong measures whenever threat to security arises and avoid or diminish war like
scenarios (Istrefi, 2018). Economic and Social Council is related to setting up commissions and

been assigned to them. Lastly, Secretariat, is the agenda setting and decision making body of the

Collective Security
The term collective security refers to the concept of protecting peace and security of all the
nations i.e. in a global manner rather than it being an individual concern (Weitz, 2018). All the
member nations collectively identify that who exactly is aggressor i.e. one who has inflicted
violence or breached peace and what actions need to be taken for such threat. One of the major
prerequisites of collective security is that the member nation should be able to assemble military
force of a much greater strength as compared to the aggressor nation so that they can overpower
it. Also all the member nations need to comply with the fact that common good must supersede
their conflicting interests thus making them committed towards the objective of world peace.
While comparing with other arrangements such as collective defence and alliance security,
collective security is more comprehensive manner of maintaining peace (Deyermond, 2018). The
objective of global governance is fulfilled substantially through collective security as all the
members are assured of assistance and support in case of wars and unjustified military actions by

member states are able to distribute costs for other non- military areas.
Also, the fulfilment and compliance necessary for maintaining peace and security at global
level gets encouraged where aggressor are cognizant of the fact that the combined forces of the

member nations would easily diminish any war related practices that might be carried out by
them. This automatically reduces the chances of wars.
Humanitarian Intervention
It basically means to prevent or stop the violation of human rights in country or particular
state. Although UN has given human rights to each individual so that it can live its life freely
and it have freedom of choice. Along with this, it can be in form of military attack between
state but it also affects the right of peace and safety of human. That is why it is known as
humanitarian intervention. Along with this, it is related to global governance as human rights
helps in avoiding the war between the countries. Such in recent case of Afghanistan many
citizen’s rights has been violated and people were killed brutally. Thus, for maintaining the peace
and protecting right all other countries has filed case in Un Security for taking proper action
against culprit. Moreover, it is related to global governance as it aims at protecting people from
unlawful intervention as well as to provide them with the right to live (Matias, 2020).
Although humanitarian is not just threat of military action or central features but also it
entails interfering the internal affairs or state though military force into specific territory or
airspace. It generally motivated by humanitarian objectives. This intervention is limited in
rescuing citizen in other state and it has been expanded beyond religious and ethically similar
groups. It has been found in case of India and China in which military intervention was
conducted by china at boarder of India.
