Topic: Lack of access to medical assistance or health care in some parts of Australia
Many people in Australia are deprived of healthcare facilities even when Australia is the
second best nation in healthcare facilities. It is not only the responsibility of few specific groups
or responsibility to work towards these problems but also every individuals of the society. As a
student studying business in information system, there is an opportunity to be part and take
initiative towards the issue (Fazel, Geddes & Kushel, 2014). The reason every person should be
responsible for a specific issues can be justified by the principle obtained from the two
fundamental principles in the Catholic Social Teaching that describes the ways human beings
should be treated. The paper will aim to provide the ways the degree of bachelor in business
information technology will help in eliminating the issue that is lack of access to healthcare and
medical in some parts of the Australia.
The two fundamental principles that describe the ways human being should be treated are
guided by the principles of common good and human dignity. According to the catholic social
Teaching, human dignity is a state that allows every individual view each other as a unique
creature. The term ‘unique creature’ means that everyone needs and should treat every person
with respect and integrity (Sison, Ferrero & Guitián, 2016). A person does not abide this specific
rule, if he or she does not regard their fellow human being with respect. According to the
Catholic Social thought, every person resemble God in their own distinctive way therefore,
showing disrespectful behavior or behavior that lacks integrity will only be disrespectful to the
god (Clark, 2014). Therefore, the people who are lacking access to the healthcare facilities are
being neglected and disrespected. There are people who work with the deprived people and there
is a sign of discrimination that makes the issue more complicated (Novak, 2017). The people
working in the healthcare sector often discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, culture and

related factors which is the major contributing factor of the health inequality. The distribution of
healthcare facilities and medical facilities are not always are made in a bias way. Also, since
these group of people are socio-economically lacking behind, it is difficult for them to claim or
fight for their own rights. They are the people who need the major help.
A student of bachelor in information technology has a huge potential that can make major
changes. For the fact it gives opportunity of developing career as inter-related procedures using
IT infrastructure in a business model. There are many way of can help in resolving this problem.
Development of an application which would give a clear idea of the location that requires the
most attention will help targeting the specific areas where there is lack of access to healthcare. A
student in this filed gains knowledge regarding the data analyst, business analyst, and system
analyst and information resource manage. With the skills of these specific department, specific
CSR policies can be developed that would help in reducing and eliminating the issue. Every
organization depends on the IT for their information and management which is a good scope of
ensuring that the organization has specific plans for the people who lack access to the healthcare
and medicine. Also, the most efficient way of contributing and working on this specific problem
is when a student work as professional in the healthcare organizations. They can help in
developing a discrimination free environment (Schwalbe, 2015).
As discussed above, many people in Australia are deprived of healthcare facilities even
when Australia is the second best nation in healthcare facilities. It is not only the responsibility
of few specific groups or responsibility to work towards these problems but also every
individuals of the society. Therefore, in order to abide by the catholic social thoughts and the
principle of common good and human dignity, it is important that each person help the other
people who are in need or deprived.
