INTRODUCTION
Learning process helps individual to learn and get in inspiration. One should get proper
knowledge how and by which individual can be able to guide themselves in some or the other
situation. It is very essential for all to know and proceed in the correct way so that they can get
more knowledge and get proper skills to do something. In this report the different learning styles
are being explained which would help the staff members of care home so that they can know
about it and do their activities accordingly (Akyol and Garrison, 2011). It is important for health
care to focus on all the things which would be helpful for them to make handle all kind of
problems which are related to the patients. This report is having different case scenarios which is
properly explained under this would help reader to know the importance about the learning styles
and process.

3 Kolb's learning style
The Kolb's learning style is based on experiential learning theory which identify four
modes in learning cycle. For modes in kolb's learning style is being described briefly as follows:
 Concrete Experimentation:- The individual following this mode of learning cycle
generally concentrate on performing experiments or conducting activity in practical
rather than focusing on theoretical part in at the time of learning new things. These kind
of personnel are expert in doing practical job easily.
 Reflection:- It is an another mode of learning cycle identified under kolb learning cycle.
The individuals who follow this mode in learning tends to observe first rather than
performing it directly in practical (Lapré and Nembhard, 2011). They mainly focus on
theoretical part and focus on steps to perform it.
 Abstract Conceptualization:- The personal who use these mode while learning new
things generally have conversation with their seniors and other members by which they
gain effective knowledge after which they apply in practical for situations.
 Active Experimentation:- It is the last mode of learning identified under kolb's learning
cycle where individual performs new activities or same activities in more polished
manner based on their learning.
As per the given case Elma is working in residential home is trying to have conversation with
Smith who is an 90 year old and deaf. For making conversation it is being noticed in following
case that she had a talk with her staff member who guided her that Smith is able to lip read. After
which she applied these in practical and had a conversation with him. For this, it is clearly
understood that she is following Abstract Conceptualization learning mode of cycle stated by
kolb.
Elma can also follow the other modes given in Kolb learning cycle as per the situations at
workplace in health and social care.

encounters, change level, and movement. It can also be viewed as a "savvy" uncertain or work

video messages like presentation and all. This will help the reader to get knowledge through
video. This method will help self in get the appropriate and required information and knowledge
by video.
Aural/Auditory- This is a type in which the one can be able to get knowledge and can be able
to learn properly with the help of seminars, meetings, etc. in this one can get knowledge and idea
through audio. This will help self in getting information through audio.
Read / write- In this people must know the ways and methods to write the things and to write
the required materials so that they could be able to make proper notes by which they can make
people understand what did we had written. It is very important for self to develop the writing
skills which would help self in write the things and read it and grasp all the required information.
Kinaesthetic- In this one can get the information which is required and the things which they
want to know through the posture, expressions, etc. In this we should know how to make the
pose and how what expressions should be given at what time so that it will help them to give
correct and required expressions to the people.
All the skills should be improved by self to get the proper knowledge about all the things
so that they can be able to learn in correct way and this might also help the people to proper
