INTRODUCTION
People work in an organisation in order to gain money and recognition. In an
organisation, manager motivates their employees to work in order accomplish the task and goals.
Motivating employees is considered as the most challenging for job for a manager. IOM
Electronics Ltd is taken as base company. It is a UK based company which deals in electronic
goods and services and working with 200 employees. In context to IOM Electronics, this report
cover about motivation theory which helps managers in motivating and inspire its employees and
factors that help them to do the work and achieve the organisational goal. It also covers the
positive and negative factors that employees experiences in job role and the strategies to cope
with negative factors and they are mentioned below-
What does Motivation Mean?
Motivation is considered to be a key element in an organization. Mangers motivate their
employees for getting work as achieve the goals ad objectives of the organization (Bessant,
Farthing and Watts, 2017). It refers to as a force which is applied by the manager to their
employees in maintaining the competition. It includes biological, emotional, social and cognitive
forces that uses by manager to motivate its employees. Manager uses both intrinsic and extrinsic
motivation for employees. Intrinsic motivation is used inside the organization where employees
perform activities in the organization for their satisfaction. The manager motivate its employees
for performing activities for their personal rewards. There are different types of motivation
theory such as drive theory, instinct theory and humanistic theory which is also known as
Maslow's Hierarchy of needs. Intrinsic motivation has a direct relationship with Maslow's
Hierarchy theory which includes 5 needs starting from to satisfying the basic psychological
needs, safety needs, belongingness needs, esteem needs to self-actualization needs where the
person work for satisfying the potential growth and identifying the purpose of its life. Extrinsic
motivation are those which focus on activities which are performed outside the organization. The
manager motivate its employees get external rewards for performing activities in the
organization (Blee, 2017)(Buheji, 2018). Goals of extrinsic motivation is to not satisfy the basic
needs but it involves gains such as fame, money, power and many more.

an employees will able to achieve their target. Employee management is important as it has a
direct link with the happiness of the employees. There are various factors which motivates
employees to work in reference to IOM Electronics are mentioned below-
Salary: Salary is considered as the most important factor in motivating employee. It is the
monthly payment that an employee gets after giving the services for a month. Managers of IOM
Electronics increases salaries, give bonus to motivate employees to do the work.
Promotion: Promoting employees is also a motivation factor that helps them to feel confident.
In relation to IOM Electronics, promoting an employee is like giving more responsibilities which
act as motivation for them.
Work Environment: Employees working in the organisation should be competitive and
supportive. In reference to IOM Electronics, it involves all those factors which boost the
performance of the environment such as feedback by the manager, training and many more.
The positive factors employees experience as a result of job roles
Employees working in the organisation has experiences both positive and negative
environment of the organisation. In reference to IOM Electronics, the positive factors employees
experience as a result of job roles are mentioned below-
Personal commitment: The experience get by an employees are the attitudes that they
carry on workplace. The employees at the company expect them to provide motivation
what they need.
Connections: Relationship with other employees feel that they are a part of something
big which creates a positive impact on them. Employees at the selected firm have the
strong connection increases their opportunities for learning and also helps in building of
network which helps in better performance and also leads in a positive experience.
Leadership: Leaders also play a vital role in making a positive impact and experience of
the employees (Huang and Li, 2019). In reference to IOM Electronics, the leader builds a
strong connection with its employees which create a positivity in them.

to the selected organisation, the employees feel stressed when they are unable to achieve
their targets which gain a negative experience in the organisation. Employees who faces
stress also affects the mental and physical health of the person as well as work of its own.
Overworked: Employees in the selecting firm often gets overloaded with work which
even leads to sever burnout and causes resentment. Due to overworked, they feel stress
which may cause sever problems to the employees.
Being bullied: In context to IOM Electronics, employees often bullied at workplace such
as making employees scared, threatened, feel burdened and so on. The employees tries to
bully the person and make them uncomfortable which create a negative impact on the
employees and also leads in loosing of temper and suffers mental health problems.

employees often experiences a negativity with office gossips. Office gossips leads to

improvement in the life (Schueller et. al., 2020). IOM Electronics can introduce flexible
working hours, paid vacations for their employees so that they don't feel burdened about
their work. Along with this, it will also help in improving their relationship with both
work and life which will result in making a positive workplace and experience of
employees.
Diversity and inclusion: Diversity and inclusion allows a positivity, unity and trust
between all the employees of the organisation. In context to the selected organisation,
introducing of this policy helps in respecting the values and beliefs of all employees.
Employees who faces discrimination in the organisation based on race, gender, colour etc
are able to work which will give them a positive experience in the firm.
Healthy competition: In order to encourage a positive workplace, the selected firm can
set goals for every individual so that they compete with each other against their previous
efforts. They can also offers responsibilities to certain employees who are the best
performer and also who work more than what is expected.
Growth: Employee potential can be seen when the organisation give space to them
(Vakaoti, 2017). The selected organisation can provide space to their employees so that
they can showcase their potential which helps them in growing in the organisation. They
can also offers rewards and recognition to that employees whose performance is best and
above all the employees.

From the above discussion, it can be concluded that people work for achieving personal
and as well as professional goals and objectives. Employees working in an organisation needs
