ELEVATOR SPEECH
I am practitioner nurse and my work is focused on provide care to individuals suffering
from injuries and illnesses. According to Blair and Jansen (2015), nurses are liable to practice
under code of conduct, core values and ethical principles. Nursing core values comprise
integrity, human dignity, altruism, social justice and autonomy. I have been passionate about
nursing from a very young age, as I was always concern about physically and mentally unable
individuals as these are the people who are unable to take care of themselves and requires
continuous assistance. Therefore, my advanced nursing practice will be followed by my present
manner of adhering to ethics and nursing standards.
However, as per the views of Dahlin, Coyne and Ferrell (2016) adhering to code of ethics
is the major responsibility of nurse as it helps the individual in maintaining respect and
compassion in working practices. Nurses get a sense of satisfaction, while treating their patients
as they feel that they are capable of helping an individual who is in need. I make sure that my
work is done in a systematic manner and with proper efficiency. I love to communicate with
patients so that I am able to understand their illnesses, and this makes me feel privileged.
Communication and caring patient with specific illness motivated me to practices advanced
nursing role. Thus, I can say current nursing beliefs and practices will help me to continue my
learning over advanced nursing practice.
I loved my incredible journey of nursing, after all the hardships I faced in this duration.
Due to my passion towards nursing, I was able to commit towards studying about the field of
nursing, when I started learning medical subjects in school. Further, I have learned that nurses
are selfless and have the willingness to help patients by comforting them (Ways Nurses Are
Making a Difference (2015). I have studied in one of the best colleges and graduated with
honours. I have a degree in graduation and post-graduation of nursing. Once I completed my
studies, I had to give an exam, in which I had to present my skills and knowledge about nursing.
As per the views of Dunphy and et.al., (2015), I have learned that advanced nursing involves
diagnosing patients' illnesses, scrutinizing of medical plans that are created and implemented.
I have a knack for researching about illnesses, which gives me an edge of understanding
what type of treatments each patients requires. During practice I determined that nurses are
considered to be the largest workforce in United States, which is nearly 3.1 million. They are

compassionate and have understanding, of different ways to make patient comfortable during
treatments .
I am able to provide emotional support to my patients who suffer from anxiety. Further, I
released that this skill helped me to deal with vulnerable patients suffering from serious disorders
like, depression, dementia, etc. . A study by Newall, Twomey and Lima (2018) stated that
nurses must have a clear role and should be given proper training and development so that they
are able to work as advanced nursing practitioners. I believe that the above statement is true
because nurses must be provided with programs that can train them so that, they can progress in
the field of nursing.
