UNDERSTANDING CONTEMPORARY ORGANIZATION
Introduction
The assessment considers the business of All seasons which is engaged in the business of
providing Knitted woollen clothes to customers. The business is engaged in manufacturing and
designing process for the woollen clothes and takes every step to ensure that the product is
attractive and of highest quality. The business has already established a name for itself in the
market of Australia and several other parts of the world. The business model of All Season is
based on providing the best quality and design of clothing and also sticking to sustainable
practices while conducting the operations of the business (Alvesson and Sveningsson 2015). The
discussion would revolve around the organization needs and the resources which are required by
the business for better management of the operations. In addition to this, the discussion would
also be showing the best possible location for the business.
Resources Required by the Organization
The business manufactures clothes and also engages in designing the products in order to
produce the final product which can be sold to independent retailers. In order to manufacture the
products, the business would be requiring both physical and human resources for conducting the
operations of the business in an effective manner. The physical resources include the raw
materials which is basically the wool and fibres which the main ingredient for the business. The
business acquires such materials from the farmers who raise their sheep by not using mules.
These farmers are dedicated to sustainable practices and therefore do not use any type of
chemicals. It is through this process that the business is able to acquire the basic raw material
which is used by the business for manufacturing woollen clothes.

On the other hand, the business has its own skilled labour force who handles the
manufacturing and designing operations once appropriate raw materials are available to them.
The designing process is given special emphasis so that the final product which is formed is soft,
long lasting, comfortable to wear. On the basis of these attributes the products are finally sold to
retailers for generating revenue for the business (Huczynski, Buchanan and Huczynski 2013).
The business has already created a name for itself in the market so there is a constant demand for
its products in the market. The management of the company needs to increase the scale of
operations and aim for growth which would then require a more systematic organizational
structure and more employees for handling the operational flow of the business (Amanchukwu,
Stanley and Ololube 2015). The business needs to adhere to the organizational theories so that
the overall business structure can be reformed for bringing about more efficiency in the
operations of the business.
Process Needed by the Organization
The business process which is followed for conducting the operations of All Seasons can
be further improved by following organizational theories. Organizational theories are theories
which shows the behaviour of employees as individuals and as a group while handling the
operations of the business (Suter et al. 2013). The organizational theories which would be most
suitable for the business of All Seasons is the Modern Organizational Theory. The modern
theory of shows that importance needs to be provided to pattern of behaviour of the employees
and the different role which are performed by them. In addition to this, the physical environment
also plays a vital role in the effective management of the business. Furthermore, the management
of the company also needs to emphasize more on the goal setting process so that the employees
are clear regarding the goals of the business and thereby they can work accordingly. More

importantly, the theory provides a more systematic view of an organization by subdividing
different areas of operations of the business into subsystems.
The management of All Seasons needs to make major changes in the operational
structure of the business and ensure that the employees are driven towards short term and long-
term goals which are set by the management. The business would be requiring more employees
so that the sales and support subsystems can get more support and thereby the work can be
handled smoothly. The business also needs to set responsibilities for different teams so that the
work is subdivided and each team would be responsible for their own work and thereby would be
able to contribute to the goals and objectives of the business (Van der Voet 2014). In addition to
such changes in the process of the business, the organizational structure of the business also
needs to be changed so that an appropriate chain of command can be set up. The organizational
structure of the business needs to be such that proper network of relationship is contracted
among different departments for conducting the operations of the business.

The above chart effectively shows the management hierarchy which needs to be followed
by the business for effective management of the business. The organizational structure
effectively shows how the authority and responsibility criteria can be managed by the business in
an effective manner. Therefore, significant changes needs to be made by the management of All
Seasons so that the operational process can be made more efficient and the business can also
achieve growth in terms of revenue generation and also sales.

Location of Processes and Resources
The process which needs to be followed by the business would be closely located within
the internal process of the business and the resources can be ordered as and when it is required
by the management of the company. The business would also need to manage the resources both
physical and human resources in an appropriate manner so that the management make efficient
utilization of resources while conducting the operations of the business (Ashkenas et al. 2015).
The management can also plan an alternative way by appointing a supervisor who would be
responsible for the inventory of the business. This way the inventory or the physical resources of
the business can be managed in a more efficient manner. However, this approach would increase
the costs of the business slightly affecting the profits of the business.
The process which needs to be followed would depend on the goals and targets which are
set by the business and also on the effectiveness of the organizational structure. Plus, there is also
a factor that main garments which is produced by the company is mainly used in the winter
season so targets should be set accordingly by the business. It is also to be noted that it is during
the winter season that maximum inventory would be required so proper resource management is
required by the business.
Controlling of Process and Resources
The resources of the business can be controlled by a supervisor specially set for the task
of managing the inventory of the business. The process of the business can be controlled by
applying proper management accounting tools such as budgeting for controlling the operations of
the business. Budgets prepared by the business can guide the employees regarding the targets
which are set by the management and also the activities which needs to be undertaken to achieve

such targets (Lueg and Lu 2013). Budgets are very effective instruments for exercising control
and also comparing the performance of the business with the targets which were initially set.
This will help the management of All Seasons to ensure that all the activities which are
undertaken are as per the targets which are set by the business. In such an approach wastage is
minimum which further contributes to lowering of costs and enhancing profits for the business.
In addition to this, the management of all seasons can appoint supervisors to look into the
work process of the business and ensure that all the process is being smoothly conducted and
there are no discrepancies. Another method which the management can adopt for exercising
control in the operational process and also resource management is by conducting monthly
checks in inventory and also making it a norm to submit monthly progress report so that
information relating to work process can be obtained by the business (Winnubst 2017).
The above discussion shows that the management of All Seasons can make
improvements in the work process and inventory management system by bringing about changes
in the organizational structure and policies of the business. The business needs to apply
organizational theories for making improvements in the organizational structure of the business.
The management of All Seasons also needs to hire more employees so that the strengths of sales
teams as well other support teams of the business can be enhanced for managing the operations
of the business.
