INTRODUCTION
Understanding self refers to a process of identifying the skills and capabilities with the
help of which an individual deals with different situations. Each and every individual have their
own unique and different skills which makes them different from others. It helps an individual to
achieve growth and success in the professional career. However it is important for an individual
to understand the fact which helps them in maintaining healthy relation with other individuals.
Therefore, in order to engage with social world, it is essentially required to understand and
analyse their own behaviour which is acceptable by society (Baron-Cohen, Lombardo and Tager-
Flusberg, 2013). In this project, different core skills which help in achieving desired aims and
objectives of a business are discussed. The report also covers the elaboration of four core skills
which are essentially required in development of an individual.

What is the core skill?
Negotiation skills is a core skill which is useful in resolving conflicts or issues between the
people and helps in maintaining good relation with others. It is a procedure through which
conflicted parties come together and negotiate themselves for the purpose of resolving their
conflicts through mutually agreement. It is generally a conversation between two or more
people with a motive of achieving common desired aims and objectives. Through negotiation
skills, the managers of an organisation can resolve all issues and conflicts that arise at
workplace in such an effective manner that will not harm the interest of any conflicted parties.
This will directly help in improving productivity as well as growth of business within short
period of time. Therefore, negotiation skills are essentially required in an individual to achieve
growth and success in their career. Before providing optimum solution, it is essentially
required to first analyse the problems and then give an opportunity to both conflicted parties to
give their specification and listen them carefully. Apart from this, it is also important for
manager to create a platform through which they can communicate with their employees and
collecting feedbacks from them as well. This will help in establishing a good relation with
them and thus they feel motivated and contribute more efforts to the organisation. This will
help in achieving desired goals and objectives within pre-determined time frame.

It is important to have such skills which help in resolving conflicts among two parties and
creating a good relation with them. Through such skills, an individual can easily identify the
strengths and weaknesses of others and help them in providing right direction to achieving
their desired aim. I used this skills for the purpose of providing maximum satisfaction to both
conflicted parties through communicating them in proper ways.

competence?
Through making an analysis of my core skills, I have found that I have good communication
and interpersonal skills through which I can deal with any problems and issues in an effective
manner. I assess these skills through resolving conflict between the two parties in such an
effective manner which cannot harm the interest and behaviour of conflicted parties.
Can you identify any contradictions from your analysis above?
I have found contradictions after analysis that I am not good in speaking multiple languages
through which I am unable to negotiate with people having different culture and backgrounds
in an effective and efficient manner. Thus, I should need to work on these through undertaking
training programmes with a motive of improving as soon as possible.
How will this skill help me in the future?
This will be helpful for me in near future as I am able to communicate with different people
from different background and culture in more positive way which also helps in maintaining a
good relation with them as well. It will also help in providing guidance and direction to other
employees through which the chances of getting success will be more. It also creates good
atmosphere at workplace which helps new employees in adjusting such environment easily.

important to be present in an individual which help in achieving their future growth and
achieve success. Thus, in an organisation, it is the responsibility of manager to identify the
skills and capabilities of employees and accordingly form a team in order to achieve desired
goals and objectives. One disadvantage of working in a team is that sometimes the views and
suggestion of team members are different due to which the conflict among them may occur.
This will bring disinterest among team members due to which the chances of achieving desired
goals on time will be minimum. Therefore, the manager needs to monitor all activities of team
mates and guide them whenever they required.

It helps an individual in sharing their own new ideas and innovative thoughts with others in

After analysing my skills, it has been found that I am good in communicating and motivating

Sometimes, I overthink before implementation of new methods and techniques through which
I unable to complete assigned task on time. But from my co-worker’s point of view, I have
such skills and abilities to create new ideas and and innovation which brings positive result to

Team work skills will help me in getting new ideas and knowledge through my co-workers
which help me in completing new task in an effective and efficient manner. With the help of
their support, I can improve my skills more which help me a lot in near future.

activities first which brings positive result. To achieve desired goals and objectives, it is
important to prepare a plan and organise the activities that to be performed in near future so
that can perform future activities on timely manner. For this, a proper schedule or time table
need to prepare which direct the members of an organisation to perform accordingly so as to
grab opportunities that will help in achieving their competitors. Time management is the
combination of processes, tools, techniques and methods which hell in completing given task
complying with due date. Therefore, working on time will help employees in getting
promotion and other benefits from the company which also help them in achieving growth and
success in their professional career as well. The manager is also focus on promoting such
employees who successfully completed allotted work in given time frame which motivates
other employees as well to complete assigned task in given period of time. Sometimes in case
of emergencies, the manager set the time bound for the employees to achieve task as easily as
possible in order to grab competitive opportunities in order to compete with their rivals.

From above analysis, I have found that sometimes due to workload, I cannot focus on
important and prioritised task to complete first due to which negative outcomes may be faced.

people. I have an ability to influence interest and behaviour of people towards purchasing our
products through ensuring them in increasing their their satisfaction level after purchasing my
product. This will bring beneficial result to company as as well as for my professional career.

I have been identified contradiction from analysis that sometimes I failed to ask suitable
question to public due to which sometimes I failed to identify their perception towards
company's product. The questions must be accurate which help in bringing interest of
customers to fill questionnaire.
How will this skill help me in the future?
It will help in identifying the changing needs and demands of customers so that I can able to
put maximum efforts in bringing changes in features and characteristics of existing products so
as to maximise customer’s level of satisfaction.

Action plan:
From the above information, it has been found that I need to develop my three core skills
which are: team work, reviewing feedback and time management skills. All such skills are
important in developing personality of an individual which help them in achieving growth and
success in their personal as well as professional career (Baumeister, 2013). I need to focus on
grabbing opportunities so as to attain strong position in market place. From the above report, I
can know my strengths and weaknesses which affect my overall personality. Such strengths and
weaknesses of mine are given as below:
Strengths: As I identify that I have good communication and interpersonal skills with the
help of which I can easily influence the interest and behaviour of people in favour of mine. I can
easily adjust in team working environment through proper coordination with other team mates
(Personal Development and Self Development Skills, 2017). I have quality to adopt new and
innovative techniques to complete given task due to which I can perform better and motivate
others to deal with complex situation. Every time, I focus on achieving desired target, then first I
prefer to prepare a schedule which helps me a lot in executing activities in an effective manner
so as to achieve desired target on time (Baumeister, 2010).
Weaknesses: Sometimes, I failed to focus on completing important task due to workload
which brings negative outcome to me. I am not good in speaking multiple languages due to
which I am unable to communicate with the person having different cultures and backgrounds.
Through this, it is difficult for me to maintaining healthy relation with others and thus, failed to
provide guidance and motivation to them. Sometimes, the people re not interest to provide their
suggestions and views about mu products and services due to which I cannot identify accurate
perception of people towards my products and services (Brechwald and Prinstein, 2011).
Therefore, it has been inferred that an individual can achieve growth and success only
when he attained different core skills through which they can make healthy relation with others
and achieve best possible outcome in near future.
