I got an opportunity to undertake internship program in one of those renowned companies in
Australia named as Westfarmers last year 2018 from our college and interacted with many
officials and employees there. I gathered many experiences there that I am going to discuss in
my essay, basically our internship program was based on learning the business outcomes and
effectiveness of the organization and identifying the various factors that would help
Westfarmers to grow in its future. This company is mainly concerned over provision of
services that help to generate agricultural merchandise to various rural communities situated
in Western Australia and several other places in the country. Westfarmers also undertook the
program to provide facilities in terms of distributing liquefied petroleum gas since the
particular year 1950. It has wide expanse of production in the field of fertilizers, launching of
insurance business, collection and manufacture of various products made from forest by-
products, coal-mining and other services. This particular company is located in Perth and it’s
headquarter is situated in the place Western Australia and it employs nearly about 220,000
people from different parts of the country as well as from outside. The purpose of this
particular organization is to provide oil reserves, grain as well as production of fruits to
different parts of Australia and it also possess joint venture in association with Genesee &
Wyoming through purchasing of property Westrail. Scope due to various of its operations
mainly include engagement of regional communities as well as various programs based on
employment that have a great effect on Aboriginal people and this information greatly
influenced me as I got the opportunity to learn about procurement strategies associated with
Aboriginals and people who live in Torres Strait Island. The thing that I liked the most is the
effectiveness of the organization in terms of preserving human rights and this acts as a
growing idea associated with shareholders, employees and other members in the organization
as the Company has adopted an approach in order to avoid risk with diligence and
responsibilities (Bayne, Schepis and Purchase, 2017). The various ways of the Company has

helped to facilitate economic growth opportunities and it has been able to render
contributions towards society. We were given the opportunity to go through reports
associated with sustainability in the environment in terms of various operations and activities
and through this process I was able to collect the data that the Company has a sustainability
index of 78 out of total score 100 in terms of various environmental policies, management
operations in the Company as well as corporate citizenship and also in terms of health as well
as opportunities to nutrition (Pirmohamed, 2014). In fact the organization also organizes
various such programs that would enhance diversity in culture selling of goods at Industrial
level. I think the effectiveness of the Company lies in justification of criteria that is associated
with ethical sourcing of team members and good managing of risks associated with ethical
sourcing policies. Investment in terms of efficiencies of energy and the Company takes
initiatives in reducing carbon emissions and helps in providing secured work environment for
all its stakeholders. Then I had also spoken with some other officials like customers, suppliers
associated with the government and learnt that the communities associated with business
have certain strong as well as vibrant goals as well as objectives that helps in undertaking
values associated with capability of creation. In this particular organization, it gives various
facilities like quality training as well as knowledge skills and they are well exhibited through
their expertise at the organization level. I had come to know that this particular organization
plays an important role in control of emission of greenhouse gases that is well approved by
NGER acts on Legislation in the year 2009. During our internship programs, I and my friends
were exposed to wide range of endeavour that provides a great deal of contribution towards
stability, programs associated with leadership development, processes of innovation and also
activities of cohesion towards community. The various groups of communities that exist
within the Company add values to Company cultures and they greatly support the programs
and initiatives undertaken by the Company in terms of rates of wages provided to the

employees, child labour as well as various ethical programs that helped to broaden
perspectives of the Company thus raising economic standards and able to satisfy customers
who prefer their services more from Westfarmers. Thus in terms of capital expenditure and
benefits that may account to $1,656 million it provides benefits to various people all over the
world and it helps the Company to earn profits that they can invest on other purposes like
community welfare as well as development (Bajracharya and Hastings, 2015). The Company
poses efforts on bridging the gaps in various operations in business of certain small scale
industries and it has also made requisite efforts in lowering various levels of pollution
through lowering utilization of fuels like petrol or diesel and introduction of Liquefied
Natural Gas (LNG) for helping to achieve a green environment. Effectiveness of an
organization usually lies in net profitability and when it matches with target profitability then
it helps to spread diverse value and culture within dynamic environment (Kilroy and
Schneider, 2016). It facilitates strengths of various employees, their effectiveness and making
investors and this focuses on varieties of improvement opportunities towards any type of
skilled activities. I would like to acknowledge the fact that I received a great deal of support
from members of organization, authorized members and they motivated me to work hard so
that I can be a successful Business Analyst as I aspire to become and if I get a chance to join
this Company.
I aspire to work hard, to undertake various business processes and therefore it is necessary on
my part to learn all the details from the internship program and I assure to take the
opportunities to learn about all the programs and I would like to learn more from my future
outcomes. This will be challenging on my part and I wish to fulfil my objectives within years
to come.
