The government is responsible for addressing the long-term unemployment because it
is the authority of the government to ensure that the people of the country is getting access to
adequate jobs and it is not being merely swept away by immigrants. In Australia, a large
number of immigrants arrive via 457 visa. This has been the cause of huge concern to almost
one third of the Australians. This has been responsible for creating a major job crunch in
Australia. as per statistics the rate of unemployment rate has grown by 730,000 the positions
being primarily filled by 6000,00 migrants (Carvalho, 2015).
Though Australia boasts of a very diverse workforce it as no doubt greatly contributed
to the perennial problem of unemployment. The immigrants bring labor and talent into the
country but also steal a number of jobs from the talent youth of the country. Australian
government has contribute very little to incline the skilled migration program so as to ensure
benefits to the Australians the growing frustrations of the Australians due to failure arranging
for a suitable job for a suitable job has been accentuating year after year (Gregory & Smith,

the job seekers losing connection with the labor market which is a utmost necessity for
fetching a job.

strategies like creating campaigns that would demand for a considerable reduction in
immigration, work sharing and providing opportunities to the poorer population. This would
assist the unemployed section of the population to develop work skills and abilities that
would help them in coming across new jobs. It is also the responsibility of the social workers
to create vocational training and scope for education for people who are from low income
households. This would generate in spreading awareness about the evils of unemployment
amongst people who are still in dark about it.

The pieces of information would be their field of interest and relevant skills that they
have acquired. Gathering this information would help me in locating them properly so that
they can be the most productive without occurrence of errors. The second information would
be about their past work experiences if any and his/her views on the current scenario of
unemployment. Acquiring opinions and evaluation of workers is necessary in the domain of
social work (Frasquilho et al., 2016). It would prevent the faulty placement of workers and a
considerable delay in the proper completion of works. The last one would be their
educational qualification to decide their job role in the community. For instance somebody
with an idea regarding social work or sociology would be best suited in the community relief
plan while people with knowledge of geography can be placed in the tourism sector

developing relevant skills for their jobs.
From the above discussion it can be sated that the government of Australia needs to
identity the root cause of unemployment in Australia and provide solutions to the issue of
immigrants. One can firmly assert that unemployment has also disturbed the overall well-
being of the people who have only been invested in community works or work for dole. In
this scenario, the social workers should also play an active role in reducing the steady growth
of unemployment and providing an all exclusive care to the people.
