Introduction
 Management and operations are combination of various continuous
procedures with effective plans, organizing resources, coordinating with
departments along with controlling work in order to produce products and
services.
 This presentation includes key approaches of operational management
along with roles played by leaders as well as managers.

Key approaches of operational management
 Key approaches of operational management are as follows:
 Lean production: Such approach focuses on minimizing wastage while ensuring high quality.
 Six sigma approach: It is a disciplined, data-driven, continuous improvement, statistical-based
approach which is used for eliminating causes of defects in process, product or services along
with improving quality of products.

Role of leaders played at Unilever
 Leaders provide training and development facilities to their team
members.
 They develops strategies to accomplish work within time period.
 They communicate clear instructions to members at workplace.
 Leaders monitor team performances and accordingly prepare performance
reports and distribute them to appropriate managers.
 They play role of managing day to day operations and understanding the
need of training for workforce.

Role of managers at Unilever
 Managers ensures daily functioning of different departments of employees
within organisation.
 They recruit, select, hire employees and plans training programmes for the
same.
 Managers set short term along with long term objectives for ensuring
