BACKGROUND TO THE RESEARCH
Employee motivation is one of the methods used by HR manager to enhance their
productivity and achieve organisational goals. Employees can be motivated through various
strategies such as by providing growth opportunities, rewards and appreciation, training
opportunities etc. motivation is of two types these are intrinsic and extrinsic (Elzahaby, 2021).
When motivation of employee increases, this results in enhancing organisation and employee’s
productivity both. This proposal includes research aim and objectives, literature review, research
methodology and at time scale to complete research on definite time period.

The selected organisation within proposal is Unilever PLC. It is one of the British
multinational consumer goods companies which was founded in the year 1929. Company
includes products like food, ice-cream, tea, coffee, vitamin well-being, water and air purifiers,
beauty products, cleaning agents and personal care etc. It was founded by William lever, James
Darsy lever. Company consists of more than 155,000 employees currently in working
environment. It is working in more than 190 countries in all over the world.

The rationale of conducting this research is that employee’s motivation is the most
essential aspect of an organisation in enhancing organisational productivity and profitability.
This study is used in the organisation to enhance employee’s productivity and providing them
growth opportunities as well (Shvetsova, 2021). In context with researcher, they have personal
reason for selecting this topic as by this they could enhance communication and time
management skills which can help them in future also. Also, in terms of academic, this topic
