Introduction
Human resources refers to employees that works in organisation and that required to be
maintained and monitor by the HR of company (Di Vaio and et.al., 2020). They are integral part
of firm that perform certain activities and function for the betterment of firm and they are like
asset for the firm that plays essential role. In this report the company is Unison, which is largest
trade union in United Kingdom and its member works in public services like local government,
education, health and outsourced services. In this report the topic covered are meaning and types
of motivation theory that used in organisation and discussing various steps that ensure
motivation among employees of company.
MAIN BODY
Definition of Human Resources
It is set of workforce in the company and perform various activities and responsibilities
that leads to proper productivity in the firm. To regulate their activities and function there is
Human resound manager who perform various duties such as planning, recruitment, hiring. In
the company Unison, this Human resources are very essential part and their performance is
carefully examined by Manager and they were hired according to their available position and
monitor the working condition to improve their performance.
Meaning of Motivation
This factor is very necessary tool that need to be developed among employees to boost
their confidence and self esteem towards their task. This facilitates in improving overall
performance and they required it time to time to develop their efficiency (NEDELKIN and et.al.,
2017). In the company Unison, motivation will help the employees in their task and motivated
them to foster the working condition and will lead to increase the overall productivity of firm.
This plays as essential tool that gives positive output and through that employees were able to
put their all efforts into their task.
Motivational theories
There are two main theories that used in every organisation through that it improve the
environment of their company at certain level. Following are the motivation theory are as
follows-

Maslow Hierarchy theory- This theory has five stages of human needs and requirement
that helps in determining the basic cycle of motivation. This represent in pyramid form
that consist five needs. It tells that after satisfying basic one the further needs are arises
and required to satisfy them.
Physiological needs- This include the most basic needs to survive in life such as food,
shelter, drink and cloths. So, this requirement has to be fulfilled first to go further level.
Safety needs- After that, this arises and it concern with needs of security from emotional
and financial circumstances such as law and order.
Love and belongingness needs- This refers to requirement of belongingness and
interpersonal connection with other and this could be of friendship, intimacy and trust. This
feeling helps the human being to spend their life with happiness and joyful.
Esteem needs- In this level human require the respect and reputation from others such as
family, offices, society and friends to gain the dignity from other.
Self-actualization needs- This is highest level of Maslow's hierarchy and it deals in self
realization and self fulfilment for future growth in their life and career. This is top level of needs
which is defines in this theory.
Herzberg 2 way theory- This is developed by Fredrick Hrzberg in 1959 and also known
as dual- factor theory. There are two factors like job satisfaction that impact by hygiene
factor and other one is job satisfaction that is impacted by motivation factors.

Hygiene factor- This factor has the power to make people demotivated and power to decrease
the inefficiency in their performance. This include certain factors like salary, safety, security and

In this report the company is Unison which largest trade union in UK and formed in 1993
and its members work in public services such as local government, education and health services.
This company supports the member in work issues such as protection, representation at work and
pay and legal services. In the company, the need and requirement of human resources are very
important were they used to conduct certain kinds of activities and manager has to regulate their
performance and task.
Issues in the UNISON Company
Increasing in the privatisation- It create as a issue when there is large number of private
companies in UK that empower the majority of market is becoming issue for UNISON
Company.

Decreasing in the purchasing power- This is an issue when people of UK has decrease
with the purchasing power. This impact majorly on the company of UNISON as their
productivity is reduced.
Abusing of human rights- This is happening a lot that multinational companies are
abusing the consumer rights to increase their profit margin. This develop the important
concern that is faced by organisation to protect their rights.
Identification of steps to motivate employees
Company uses specific stages to keep the employees motivated and engaged to improve
the performance at their work. Following are the ways-
Effective communication- This refers to treating the employees through their polite and
humble behaviour and it happens because of their communication skills (Tambe, Cappelli
and Yakubovich, 2019). This is effective way to motivate employees and in the company
Unison, this will improve the overall productivity.
Proper environment- This concern with providing fair and better working condition to
the employees in order to foster their efficiency. In the company Unison, this facilitates in
developing the overall condition so that they do not feel dissatisfied and demotivated.
Leadership- This is main method through which employees will feel the satisfied and
motivated in the company. This quality should be in manager and in the company
Unison, manager must have efficient leadership style to motivate and builds their
confidence to accomplish the task.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it is concluded that Human resources refers to capable workforce
that works in company and responsible to success and growth. Motivation is effective tool to
improve the performance and efficiency among employees. In this report there are two
motivational theory such as Maslow Hierarchy theory and Herzberg 2 way theory is discussed. It
is recommended that leadership and effective communication will help in motivating the
employees in the firm and facilitates in achieving the desired goals and objectives. This steps
will increase the working conditions of organisation automatically and leads to foster their future
growth.
