Differences between the coaching, mentoring and teaching roles in relation to working with
individual learners
Coaching, mentoring and teaching plays a vital role in relation to working with an individual
learner but still a difference exits between all these three phenomena. The difference among the
coaching, mentoring and teaching roles in relation to working with individual learners is
evaluated and discussed below:
Coaching
Coaching is mainly associated with a learning process that exists and present in a learning
world and associated with the place where things actually happen thus coaching is mainly aspires
during actual action (Giust and Valle-Riestra, 2017). Apart from this, coaching involves an
exertive experience coach who implements and directs about basic points and key points to
learner at different situation. Thus, a coach works and emphasis on the basic concepts and also
focuses on key points which are identifying the situation, adjusting their actions, performance,
and actual lessons learned. Further, coaching also aim at identifying the actual area of
improvement for an individual student through providing and leading out guidance and direction
in order to meet student needs and targeted outcome.
Mentoring
The learning process and concept of mentoring is mainly associated and linked with the
meeting of objective and fulfilment of individual aim through getting and leading rethink about
their goals by the help of developing enhanced experience. Thus, the role of Mentor in individual
learning is mainly associated with the helping out an individual through creating a clear picture
of future to meet and accomplish their path. Therefore, mentoring is different from coaching as it
does not involve talking about key concepts where as includes and comprises of facilitating their
personal values and find emotional balance through acting as a friend and supporting their
individuality through creating a picture of the future to determine their future direction (Grey and
et. al., 2020).
