Business intelligence term was invented in early 1990’s and over the past few decades,
business intelligence has evolved to rely increasingly on real time. A dramatic shift has been
experienced over the past few years that helps in identifying the self-service importance in
business intelligence concepts. Much popularity was gained relating to Business intelligence
during year 1995. Growth of BI tools and revenue generated resulting from their implementation
has been constantly rising. BI is a growing filed and it is further expects that it will continue to
grow in future. There has been explosive growth in BI over the past two decades in terms of
services and numbers adopted and offered by technologies within different industries. Growth in
the adoption of BI tools is fueled by declining cost of storing and acquiring large amount of data
(Sauter2014). Technology of BI is used in different organizations. In manufacturing
organizations, tools of BI is used for customer support and order shipment. Retail organization
make use of such tools for targeting grocery coupons. Financial services relies on such tools for
fraud detection and claim analysis.
Business intelligence is a system and tool that assist corporation in their process of
strategic planning. It can be defined as the wider collections of application technologies,
software programs that is aimed at effective and efficient performance of decision makers. In the
implementation project plan of companies, business intelligence is considered as prevailing
software application strategy. Strategic decision making in organization facilitates empowered

customers and increasing market volatility. It is the key factor in attaining competitive advantage
and is composed of methodologies, theories, architectures, processes and technologies that helps
in transformation of raw data into useful and meaningful information for business purposes. It

efficiency and business benefits when analyzing the solution to business intelligence (Richards et
al. 2017).
As per depiction of current statistics, total revenue generated for business intelligence on
worldwide is $ 23.1 billion (Işıket al. 2013). It is said by organizations that the factor that are
driving their competitive advantage position is that they need to be more analytics. Across the
globe, there has been increasing demand of technologies, approaches and tools of business
intelligence. Business decision making is enhanced by emergence of applications of business
intelligence.

SAP Business Intelligence- SAP is a tool of business intelligence that focuses on
providing organizations with useful form of representing data that would assist them in decision-
making and analysis purposes. SAP is considered as the effective tool of BI because it has single

Oracle Hyperion system-This tool of BI offers a centralized budgeting, planning and
forecasting solutions that helps in integration of operational and financial planning processes. It
intends to improve the predictability capacity of business. It is a web-based application that helps
in improving and reporting of data. Some of the features of this particular tool of BI involves
improving forecasting and plan accuracy, reducing cost ownership through deployment of
application, packaged data integration and tools of management. It leverages the Microsoft office
based interface that assist in dwindling the learning curve. Furthermore, external and internal
transparency of organization is improved by delivering a single truth version and compliance
cost reductions. It helps in improving the financial results confidence by maintaining a regulatory
filing made to audit trial of general ledger. An in depth analysis of operational and key
performance indicators are easily conducted using this BI tool (Lim et al. 2013).
