INTRODUCTION
The End of the Year Performance was a learning project- one of its kind. This portfolio
includes the details of the project and the entire learning process that I have gone through during
my tenure in the university. I have included the major activities that helped me acquire respective
skills and learning in the field of dance.
REFLECTIVE ACCOUNT
My learning project was to develop a dance production with help of a small team
formulated by our supervisors. The main aim of our project was to entertain our audience till a
time of 15-30 minutes. Hence, I being the leading member of our group decided to bring out a
conceptual dance drama that will be of thrilling genre. Out conceptual theme lasted for about 20
minutes. Often audiences get disinterested in entertainment acts like theatrical drama or a story
without music. I wanted to eradicate this possibility, hence, our team collectively decided to
choose this project of an entertainment depiction in the class. It would be different from the
monotonous activities and we would be able to accomplish respective aim.
We took the advantage of audio-video recordings and music for the record of our project.
Posters and drawings were used by us for making people aware about our dance drama
presentation. During the entire processing and execution of the project, I had gained lots of
benefits from the Activity: Challenge Yourself. I always wanted to perform and direct my own
story which could be presented in a musical form. This opportunity was grasped by me through
the concerned project. I learnt the skill of directing and dancing simultaneously. The entire
process was highly exciting and overwhelming. I have also learnt team work spirit during the
time period. The video tape developed during the performance is quite a huge evidence of out
achievements and challenges. I challenged myself to be motivated in every situation irrespective
of the consequences. The end result of this challenge is experienced in the form of our successful
presentation of dance drama. I have watched different types of dance videos and read multiple
blogs to gain momentum regarding the project.

I have learn to dance and it was completely a new experience for me. I was never involved in
such activities and due to that it has provided me a medium to perform in front of audience and
showing my skills and capabilities. Our group has prepared dance presentation. It helped us to
entertain our class for 15-30 minutes so that it was essential that coordination and participation
of all the group members should be involved so that required objectives of the activity could be
achieved. Our group has selected learning activity 3 and in this we have given group presentation
in the classroom so that other fellow members in the class could be educated about the selected
topic.
We decided to make aware our classmates about the good work done by Malala
Yousafazai in the field of education. We collected relevant information on her from Library and
online articles and it has helped my group to carry out in depth research on her and vast amount
of information was gathered by us. It helped us in preparing our dance drama so that rest of the
classmates could be made aware about the our chosen education thinker. Moreover, I have taken
initiatives for inviting out group members for preparing a dance drama so that curiosity can be
enhanced among peer members for watching out presentation. We prepared notes on Malala
Yousafazai and written documents were maintained by us so that no challenges should be faced
during our dance rehearsals. Detailed discussions was made among group members and we
prepared strategy on which the entire drama was prepared. A step by step process was followed
by us and it is as mentioned in the notes form :-
Step 1 Initially our group has decided our goals for preparing dance
drama.
Step 2 Overall plan on making dance drama was communicated to the
group members
Step 3 I made it ensured that all the group members should reach at
rehearsal venue on time.
Step 4 All the group members practiced purposeful repetition.
Step 5 Document and review of corrections was done and on the basis
of that weak performing areas were improved.

For presenting dance drama in class, there are different type of inspiration that has
encouraged us. In this context, one of the effective aspect is movie. All the members involved
were inspired with the movie named LA LA LAND. The movie is fully based on dance and
drama. It is an type of inspiration that encouraged all to present dance drama in class . Each any
every scene in the movie was divided and each of the scene were performed by different
members. In this context, there was about 7 total scenes but there were repetition of members in
scenes. Further, the key message in the movie was that one should never loose and life never
stops for anyone, one has to make use of the opportunity that one gets. As per my perception, I
will rate the movie to be 9 out of 10 . This movie was helpful enough to prepare us with dance
drama and to make audience understand about its moral.
From the project, I am able to understand that it is important to have proper timing and
effective coordination so that audience will be able to understand the moral that need to be
conveyed. This is possible when members involved in the project are able to understand the
moral by themselves and put on their full efforts within an in to make effective presentation . I
have identified that I have to be open with every one and take suggestion from every one and to
select the best one that can be applied in order to complete the task that is provided. Further, it is
also important to have effective interaction with each of the members so that the rate of
confusion can be reduced. In addition to this, all the information about the roles in the project
that has to be played should be conveyed . This is an effective way with the help of which the
rate of confusion can be reduced and members of the project will be able to put on their full
efforts to present in an effective manner.
