Identify and explain how research on decision making can relate to university student
A student is required to take necessary and effective decision during studying in
university. So, there are different types of decisions to be taken such as choosing subject, career
path, etc. These all enable in obtaining higher grades and marks in university. So, student is
required to have in depth understanding of decision making models and process (Abdullah,
Hussin and Talib 2018). The decision making related to university as student have to apply that
for taking decisions. This enables them to solve problem and grow in career in advance way.
However, it has been analysed that decision depends on psychology or on judgement. Alongside,
it is important to do effective management as well. This is entirely based on decision taken by
student. Here, psychology is related to memory, learning, emotion, stress, etc. thus, it is related
to decision making. Judgement is based on ability, capability, skills, experience, etc. and
management is related to managing roles and responsibilities which help in attaining goals and
objectives.
It has been analysed that there are certain factors which influence decision making. They
may be related to psychology, judgment or management. Thus, decision are taken on this basis.
In certain situation it may happen that decision is based on psychology, judgment or on
management. So, from it is said that decision making is complex procedure as it relate with all
these 3 elements and is time consuming process. However, there is still not a proper model of
decision making which is applied by university student.
A student study in university to gain skills and knowledge. So, decision has to be taken in
context of management as well (Stamovlasis and Vaiopoulou 2017). The conception of
management is from 3 view point that is individual, interpersonal and organisation effectiveness.
So, manager take decision on basis of these. Furthermore, student psychology is based on
learning, stress, etc. So, sometimes they take decision based on judgment. This result in failure of
management. Here, purpose of student is to engage in decision making process so that effective
decision is taken. In effective management it refers to managing of roles. A manager play roles
that is interpersonal, decisional and informal.
Thus, for student there is need to have a proper decision process so that it can be used.
This will enable university student to analyse decisions and then take it. Moreover, some criteria
is followed as well by student in decision making process. Also, they need to find out factors that

influence decisions in context of psychology, judgement and management. The student examines
various options in university and this make easy in their career growth. They are able to choose
right subject and stream. So, more research is being done in this context which provide a way for
university student to take effective decisions. This enables them to solve problem and grow in
career in advance way.
