INTRODUCTION
For developing a successful personal as well as professional career an individual need to
do their higher education and for that they required numbers of particular skills, capabilities and
abilities because that will help them in developing effective decision (Brown and Lent, 2016).
Now a day competition is increasing day by day so in order to survive, an individual need learn
new skills as well as abilities. The primary aim of conducting respective report is to determine
importance of goal setting along with some important short as well as long term goals of
University students (Rego, Cunha and Polónia, 2017). Along with this, it will also consider
different techniques or method which can be used for improving remembering of students.
MAIN BODY
1. Discuss why it is important to set goals. Identify some important short-term and long-term
goals for university students.
Goal refers to idea or target of a person or company that is determined for attaining pre
determined objective in future. This is considered as similar term of aim as well as purpose
because in all individual develop plan for achieving desire result within a specific or allotted
time duration (Renko and et. al., 2015). Moreover, goal setting is considered as procedure that
define what an individual want to attain by doing hard work. Similarly in respect of academic,
goal setting is considered as target that is primed by a student for building an effective career as
well as attaining career goal and objective. Goal setting plays a major role in a students life
which can be determined through its importance which are mentioned below:-
Provide focus to a student: By setting a goal, student able to be focus in their career
because it will help in developing or setting proper guideline for attaining desire goal
(Cunliffe and Scaratti, 2017). Moreover, it will also help in creating sense which direct
student to focus on their goal without wasting energy as well as source.
Increase motivation level: Through the development of goal a student get motivated and
encourage to attain that goal for developing a successful future or career (Wu and et. al.,
2018). In addition to this, by creating goal student feel motivated and encouraged that
they want to attain particular goal and for that they develop proper blueprint.

Pay more attention to hard topics: It is one of the most common method which can be
used by a student in order to improve their remembering (White, 2015). According to
that, student need to pay more attention to that topics which are difficult for them because
through that they able to understand it effectively and successfully.
Get appropriate sleep: According to this students need to take proper rest or sleep
because that will help them in relaxing their mind which enhance remembering or
retaining power of students (Véron and Wolff, 2016).
