INTRODUCTION
Employability activities help employees in developing and improving their skills, abilities
and knowledge. It also helps in presenting real scenario of the practical world among the students
by using their theoretical information. There are different types of employability activites which
includes role plays, brainstorming, case study, research logs, mind maps, etc.
The present file is based on the personal development and engagement in employability activities. It
consists of reflective regarding the development of the skills and abilities by using those activities.
Reflective on personal development and engagement in employability activities
While studying at University of Greenwich I develop various skills and capabilities with the
help of employability activities. These activities are explained below.
Role Play:
It is the activity in which individuals need to perform or act a particular role either
consciously or unconsciously. I also participated in this activity and perform the role of employee in
an organisation. While acting the role I came to aware about the various problems and issues faced
by the workers. For making the role play effective, I cooperated and coordinated with the other
performers which developed team management skills in me. Along with this, I communicate well
with my boss and supervisors during the role play for informing about my work. This
communication resulted to aware me about the importance of the communication skills in the
company. For better presentation of the play, I give my best and act my role properly which
developed presentation skills in me. The role play helped me in knowing about the real cooperate
world and the problems faced by the staff members. It motivated me to develop myself and to
improve my skills so that I can make myself eligible for the desired job. On the other hand, while
preparing for the role play I came to know about the importance of the performance and relationship
management in the enterprises. Due to this, I tried to perform well so that I can develop the ability
of good performance in myself. During the play, I was late and due to this, other performers faced
problem. This made me aware about the importance of time management. After this I decided to
reach at time at any place and to finish my work as per the deadline. This role play activity helped
me a lot in informing about the various skills which are important for an employee to get a good
positions and salary in an organisation. It also developed team management, time management and
communication skills in me. But I need to develop them more effectively for my personal and
professional development.

It refers to the diagram which are used for organising the information properly. In this, an

image is formed on the blank page regarding a single concept and then generated ideas are and
images are added to it. In this, major and important ideas are connected to the central concept and
other ideas are added in the form branch. I also use this technique for generating, visualising,
structuring and classifying the ideas properly. I used to develop mind map of each and every
concept which helped me in getting appropriate solutions of the different problems. This activity
resulted to develop problem solving, decision making, writing, organising information skills.
During mind mapping, I also used brainstorming for generating creative and effective ideas. This
increased my knowledge in that particular field. Along with this, I also developed risk handling
skills. Due to the mind mapping I started taking risks and challenges which reduced the fear of
failure in me. As the time passes and due to the daily practice, I started finding appropriate solutions
for the challenges or risks and this helped me in developing my risk handling skills. I also used
modelling graphs which includes UML and semantic diagrams. These diagrams informed me about
the relationship and link between the various information and ways to connecting the relevant
information to the right one.
Research Log:
In this activity, students maintain a diary of the processes in which they think and search
about the topics, terms, etc and the ways in which they use the information in achieving their
objectives. I also did this activity for keeping the track of all the processes, resources and terms
which I used during the research. This activity helped me in developing research skills with
management of work properly. Along with it, I also developed my thinking and learning skills by
searching appropriate information as per the topic. This enhanced my knowledge and aware me
about the various topics. Proper and effective management of the research log also helped me in
discussing problems or issues with the faculties and getting their feedbacks regarding my work.
This activity helped me in keeping all the records properly and in organised manner. Due to this, I
am able to use those logs in future also for getting any kind of help. In addition to this, research log
developed my management and maintenance skills as I used to manager and maintain my work and
researches in that log.
CONCLUSION
From the above, it is concluded that with the help of various employability activities
individual can develop themselves personally and professionally. Employability activities play
essential role in development and improvement of the skills, knowledge and abilities. With respect
to it, role play helps in developing team and time management skills along with the communication
skills. On the other hand mind map helps in developing and increasing problem solving, analytical,

thinking, risk handling, writing, etc skills. It also helps in increasing knowledge related to the
particular field. In addition to this, research log helps the individual in keeping track of all the
searches, ways in which information is used, type of search methods used, etc. This also lead to
enhance research skills by searching relevant information.
