Introduction
Managers in the modern world are being confronted by various issues as they strive for
effectiveness in business (Carnall, 2018, p. 17). When effectiveness is correctly developed and
deployed, there is always the assurance of effectiveness in regard to decision making and
business transaction pertaining to every aspect of business organizations. This can only happen
when managers have good management skills. This paper will briefly give three management
research topics that are of interest to me. The paper will also have a discussion of the value of
researching these topics and concepts.
Managing Technology and Innovation
In the modern world we’re living in, the management of technology and innovation is now
being considered of great importance. Technology is advancing day-by-day whereby new
upgrades and further improvements are being implemented to improve the already existing
products and service as well as inventing new ones. In order for organizations to stand out from
their competitors, technology is being employed for innovation. New technology is being applied
to enable business owners to deliver efficient and effective products and services. Innovation,
however, is a high risk and comes along with its own challenges that call for principles and tools
that help in management (Autio, 2017, p. 79). Successful innovation through the use of
technology, therefore, demands to bring expert project management.
Managing the Global Enterprise
From the time when the industrial revolution began in the 18th Century, globalization has
been around in various forms. Over the past 2 decades, globalization has recorded tremendous

acceleration. This is no longer the continuous century-old trend that used to be there. As a result,
the new economic reality is now integrating markets across the world (Sultan, 2015, p. 53).
Despite the fact that globalization’s benefits and reach are not universal, it is the world’s major
driver for economic growth and prosperity. This explains the reason why global corporations are
now shifting their focus from products to production. Strategies, operations, and management
techniques are being designed around a new goal: integrating value and production delivery
globally.
Gender and Diversity in Organizations
Today women are not perceived as inferior to men unlike the olden days, where they
were being assigned to low responsibility, temporary or part-time jobs (Riccucci, 2018, p. 37).
As a matter of fact, it has now become common to hear in some instances that men are inferior to
women. This change of things seen has made organizations adjust slowly to them. Gender
diversity in workplaces widen the pool of talent, increase performance and engagement as well
as improving reputation. However, increased diversity is not without management problems, for
instance, many cases of sexual harassment are usually from organizations that have more
women. This calls for flexibility that complicates management in scheduling, interpersonal
communication, compensation plans, and so on.
Conclusion
The paper discussed briefly three management research topics that are of interest to me:
Managing Technology and Innovation, Managing the Global Enterprise Gender and Diversity in
Organizations. For each, it is clearly seen that there is the need for organizations to have
effective management for successful operations.
