Discussion on mobile applications development for Concordia University:
The mobile applications equip the universities with a simple-to-execute and customizable
mobile solution. Further, unified mobile apps have been useful to prove personalized experience to
the users or students.
The following study analyzes the development of university mobile applications. For this,
Concordia University is selected. Here, the kinds of scopes or issues for three potential projects or
solutions are demonstrated here.
The Concordia University is a university of liberal arts. It is located at Saint Paul, United
States. It was founded in 1893. At present in enrolls about 5000 students. This is an affiliate of non-
member Concordia University Systems. This is operated through Lutheran or send largest church
body at the nation, known as LCMS or “Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod”.
Projects as potential solutions that are to be considered in the present case:
Library Management system having SMS autoreply:
This can be utilized to maintaining records of various user details. This involves registering
books, checking the balance penalty amount ad many more. This system should be working from
both the admin and user side (Berman et al., 2015).
Further, the users are also able to check the individual details and gain notifications for the
balance amount regarding penalties. This must also include the returning date of books and checking
available books. Besides, this also functions through SMS. Apart from this, the users are also able to
send SMS to a specific phone number. This consist of some predefined value and text. Next, the
student would receive a reply through SMS (Andreasen, Fernández-Villaverde & Rubio-Ramírez,

2017). However, as anyone needs the data only through SMS, then the app is not required to get
installed. Here, the most vital part is the app maintenance cost. For this certain amount are to be
paid, to maintain the resources of the library. Here, the essential items of works need the hosting,
engagement, monitoring, updates and licenses (Karplus, 2017).
Android project on student-faculty document sharing:
It must be done on online portal taking place between faculty and students. It would permit
the faculty of the college for sharing vital information and notifications with the students of
Concordia University. This comprises of the faculty login with student login. Here, the faculty can
upload the documents of timetable document, e-notes, notifications, subject syllabus and many more
with the provided login (Bryson, 2017). Regarding its cost-benefit analysis, this app must not be
economized through sacrificing the beauty of the application design. Here, one should invest in
interface n icon elements such as buttons, tables for long-term benefits (Gottumukkala, 2017).
Development of mobile-based attendance system:
This must be developed to eradicate effort and time that are wasted to consider attendances at
Concordia University. This has been highly reducing the number of paper resources that are required
in the data management of presences. This must be used for the faculty of Concordia University,
such that they might consider student attendance through the phone. Here, the system has been
distinguished into various modules (Doewes, 2016). Here, the list creation of student attendance has
been there. As the student over the phone installs the app, it can permit the user in creating the sheet
of student attendance. It must be consisting of the subject, absent or present mark, date, roll number
and name. Besides, the student names are to be filled with the related roll numbers. Then, there is an
attendance marking. Here, the faculty has to list the phone (Arif et al., 2018). There, he should see
the roll-numbers through the list. Then they call and choose the absent ID is absent and decide to be

resent as the student is absent. Next, the attendance storage is to be considered. Here, the data must
be stored under faculty mobile phone.
Further, the faculty can also be seen that at any time over the phone. Next, the attendance
sheet transfer must be done. Here, the faculty can transfer the file to the server through Bluetooth
connection. Here, the information can be stored and then maintained by Concordia University. Here,
regarding cost-benefit analysis, personal profiles develop user experiences. This no doubt raises the
expenses. Thus, with more effort for spending during development, the university must work on
privacy concerns as they have personal profiles (Bryson, 2017).
It can be concluded by saying that the aforementioned ‘Library Management system” with
SMS autoreply is in the best interest to Concordia University. Its main advantage is that the users
can check the books despite visiting the library. Further, they can get reminders on the phone.
Besides, for the users of the SMS autoreply, the users never required to activate the Internet
connections. However, it must be reminded that the users of SMS must need enough quantity of
balance in their phone.
