1. Project Charter
1. 1 Project Purpose
The report is prepared for the development of a network infrastructure for the First
national University for allowing the student enrolled with the distance education learning to
access the learning material and other service provided by the university. For the development of
the network framework an IP addressing scheme is developed that is used for the configuration
of the networking device used for the development of the university network. Wireless access
point is installed in the different location of the campus area for supporting the BYOD policy of
the university.
1.2 Project Scope
The scope identified for the development of the project is that the installation of the
wireless access point in different areas of the campus would help to reduce the cost of cabling
and the network downtime. The network should use a strong backbone cabling such that the
congestion in the network are avoided and the response time is minimum. The security of the
network is also important and a strong encryption must be applied on the wireless access point
for securing it from external access and make the network 99.99% available.
1.3 Project Objectives
The main objectives identified for the development of the project are listed below:
 To analyze the current flaws in the network and redesign the network aligning the
requirement of the university.
 To create a new network addressing scheme for dividing the network into smaller subnets
and make the network manageable ad reducing the wastage of the IP address

 To use a strong encryption algorithm for the wireless access point for increasing the
security of the network
 To reduce the network down time with the implementation of MTTR and MTBF ad
creating a backup plan for handling the emergency conditions
1.4 Constraints
For the development of the network solution the following contains are required to be
overcome
 The major constraint identified is the identification of the key stakeholders for the
project and their requirement
 The completion of the project within the proposed timeline and the budget is
another constraint because the cost of the project may increase to some uncertain
factors
 The transformation of the new network from the old network can be a problem for
the user because the some of the devices may not be compatible with each other

Project Background
The project is developed for creating a network solution to connect the different department of
the university with each other. The network should also allow the remote users to access the
university servers and implement wireless access point for enabling the users to connect their

smart devices with the wireless network. The network is designed for allowing the users to
communicate internally and externally using the network.

4. Risk and Mitigation
The following risk are identified that can affect the success of the project and they are listed
below:
Missing the deadline for delivering the project on time – The progress of the project
should be monitored by the project manager and it is his responsibility to add extra resource for
nth completion of the project on time.
Increase in the project budget – The increase in the development me would extra cost n
the project and thus some extra cash must be reserved for handling the emergency conditions in a
project.

Security Issues – The risk acting on the network must be identified and countermeasures
like deployment of firewall and installation of antivirus on the PC must be applied for increasing
the security of the network.
Technical issues – The unavailability of the network hardware device or any defective
