OVERVIEW OF INTERNETWORKING
5. Troubleshooting Steps
Different problems are faced during the configuration of the network. The first problem
was not ping of the PC 1 with PC 4 due to not routing the interface. The IP route command was
used for mitigating the problem and troubleshooting the network to ping each of the Pc with each
other. For getting the IP address and the default gateway of the router the show interface brief
command was used that makes it easy to recheck the configuration of the PC with the right
gateway address.
6. Analysis of the Current Network
The current network is created using cisco 2800 series router and the model number is
2811 that are three in numbers and four cisco 2950 switches. The three routers are connected
with each other using the serial interface and two switches are connected with the fast Ethernet
port of the router 2 and other two switches are connected with the fast Ethernet port of router 3.
A PC is connected with each of the switch for testing the connectivity and proper configuration
of the network. For testing the network the PCs are pinged with each other and the screenshot of
the ping are attached with the document of the report. The current network can be improved with
the application of the access control list in the router and blocking the unknown IP address to
access the resources. The configuration of the router with access control list would increase the
security of the network and block the unauthorized user to access the sensitive organizational
information.
