INTRODUCTION
Portfolio is defined as aggregation of academic work & educational evidences with the
motive of evaluating quality of coursework, academic achievements, learning progress and so on
(Dai and Wen, 2018). It is also develop to determine learning standards of students, grade
level,promotions, graduation standards etc. The present report is reflective account that covers
various skills such as problem solving, communication, presentation, reading and many more
which is acquired and learned by students of university during their coursework.
SKILL REFLECTION
During my time period at university, I used various skills, some of the skills were
inherited whereas some were adopted during tenure of my coursework in order to made an
understanding of lectures presented by tutors of my university. In context to this, development
and acquisition of these skills helped me out at the time of my academics. The skills are
mentioned below:
Research skill
It is refer as the ability of finding, searching, gathering, interpreting, analysing as well as
evaluating information that is accurate and relevant for the specific topic. This information helps
a person to effectively perform their research work and this plays crucial role in students
academic life. When my college classes was started, I assumed that my research skills is not
effective and good as others. By the assistance of classes given by tutors of my university, I have
improved my research skills. Improvement in my research skills helped me in my past to
complete research projects properly and submitted it on time frame. Due to this, my grades is
raised. Research skill will assist me in my future growth and success. Research skills will help
me in report writing and develop an opportunity for me to impress my senior authorities. In
addition to this, it will also assist me to make myself update with new and innovative
technologies.

Plagiarism
It is basically a way to showcase others opinions as well as views at own effectively
(Dunst, 2019). At the time period in university, I acknowledged that plagiarism is a big crime. I
learned, plagiarism is of two forms that is intentional & unintentional. Moreover, the lectures
presented assisted me out that it is important to mention citations in the project work in order to
show working and give credits to original writer. An ideal student completed project is such a
manner that shows the original working of writer. It is also acknowledged by me that projects
contain plagiarism were reported to senior authorities of university for taking strict actions on
students. Therefore, it helped me out that plagiarism and in texting in projects is crucial part of
one's academic life. It is also important for every student to consider that projects completed by
the in future sid not involve plagiarism.

Reflective Thinking skills
It is referred as analytical thinking by which a person gains an understand about how to
deal with situations & make proper judgement accordingly. At the time of my lectures, I have
developed an understanding that Gibbs cycle, an effective framework helps a person in
implementing reflective writing as well as thinking effectively. I adopted this model at the time
of my reflective assignment and due to this I gained appreciation from my teachers for
showcasing my reflective skills. In the future time, reflective skill will help me to make
judgements properly considering the situations that will result out in positive outcomes.

Academic writing skills
It is termed as a particular style which is used in essays and formal assignment during the
coursework. It includes formal language, logical structure & is substantiated by some evidences.

At the time of my coursework, I have learned that mainly academic writing is of four types that
is persuasive, analytical, critical and descriptive as well. I also have learnt that every academic
writing forms have different features and purpose. During my coursework, it helped me out in
completing projects in a defined and effective manner. Academic writing skill will help in future
also in completing assignments in a best as well as feasible manner.

Analysis approaches (SWOT & PESTLE)
There are mainly two approaches which an organisation adopted to evaluate their
performance and to identify effect of uncontrollable factors on business activities (Lin and
Magnuson, 2018). This approaches are SWOT as well as PESTLE framework. During my
coursework. I have developed an understanding that SWOT analysis is used by organisation to
analyse their strength and weakness. Along with this, the opportunities as well as threats is also
included that a company possess. This factors impact on the success of business operations
globally. PESTLE framework consist of political, economical, social, technological, environment
as well as legal factors which impacts on an organisation performance and productivity. During
my sessions given by tutors of my university, I have learned that understanding about these two
models is necessary for an organisation success and development.

Problem solving skills
This skill assist a person to gain an understanding about how problems is solved and how
to handle situations effectively. It is important for a person to develop problem solving skill as it
helps in maintaining good environment and solve issues easily. During the time period of my
sessions, I faced issues in tackling problems related to my projects due to which my time and
efforts is wasted. The tutors of my university taught me that an effective manager who have the

ability to solve problems rapidly and efficiently. Problem solving skill will assist me to handle
conflicts at workplace positively. This will also help me in future to maintaining good relation
with employees and with higher authorities of company.

Critical thinking skills
This skill basically involves four aspects that is assessment of evidence, debate on
specific issue, reflection on opinions and challenging assumptions as well. During the tenure at
university, critical thinking assisted me in working with team members effectively. Along with
this, it helped me in understanding others opinion and combined it with mine which arrive most
suitable and effective results. This skill assisted me in my academics to understand learnings
given by teachers of university. This skill will help me in my future in judging and understanding

Communication skills
It is termed as the ability of an individual to receive and give information to others. An
effective communication is one that clear out the mindset of people and develops a better
understanding on that specific topic. Communication skills include listening, empathizing,
speaking and observing s well. During the time period of my college, I have learned that
communication skills helps in both personal life as well as in academic life. At the time of
sessions, I acknowledged that there are three kinds of communication skills which us written,
visual and oral. I learned that listening is also essential as sharing opinions to others.
Improvement in my communication will develop my confidence level and also assist me in

raising my academic grades in future. Moreover, it will also develops opportunities for me to
make my future better that leads to career growth.

Interpersonal skills
It involves behaviour, tactics and attitude an individual carries while communicating with
other people (Suleman, 2018). It is important for a person to have interpersonal skills. At the
time of my graduation, I learnt interpersonal skills that helped me in presenting opinions to
others effectively. It also assisted me to interact and understand others perception easily.
Interpersonal skills also involves social intelligence which help a person to maintain good
relationship with others. The skills which I gained during sessions are team building, conflict
management, team collaboration and public speaking as well. Interpersonal skills will help me
in my jobs and to develop solution oriented attitude. It will also assist me to manage business
activities and situations effectively as well as appropriately.

Advantages of Data Interpretation
Data Interpretation is termed as identifying & analysing information that results out in
positive outcomes. It is basically analyse the data and gain better understanding of particular data
in a best manner (Tamis-LeMonda and et. al., 2019). The tutors of my university taught me how
to evaluate and interpret data effectively. I developed my data interpretation skills by attending
the sessions in my university. This skill helped me in during my graduations to complete
research projects and raise my ranking level. Development of data skills will help me in making
effective decisions in a short span of time. In addition to this, Data interpretation skills Wil assist

CV and Cover Letter
Curriculum Vitae is wholly different from cover letter. CV involves educational as well
as professional history of a person whereas cover letter involves information in a concise
manner. During the initial phase of mine in college, I am not able to develop an attractive
curriculum vitae for me. Attending the week sessions helped me out to form well structures and
attractive cover letter and CV. An effective CV will help me to present my skills and education
to employers and gain good job position effectively.

Presentation skills
Presentation skills refer as a way how a person communicate and interact with the people
and how they share message and opinions to the audiences (Wilson, 2018). During the tenure of
my coursework, I am afraid of giving presentation in front of audiences thus, it is essential for
me to improve my presentation skills. After attending the sessions and guidelines given by tutors,
my presentation skills is improved and my confidence level is boost up. This skill help me to
present my message and opinions to large audiences. Development in my presentation skills will
help me in my jobs and in achieving success.

SUMMARY
From the overall experience of my learning, it is analysed by me that my personal skills
is improved which help in my future growth. From the above given academic skills, it is stated
that some skills are cherished my growth level as well as academic skills. These skills are
presentation, academic writing, communication, team building and so on. During the week
sessions held by tutors of my university, I have learned how to build positive attitude and
develop interpersonal skills effectively. It is analysed by me that development in my

communication skills assist me in presenting and sharing my views to others effectively. As per
my experience, I realised that now I am able to discuss my confusion to anyone without
hesitation which helped me out in achieving feasible and proper solutions. I analysed that it is
significant to have problem solving skill so that issues get solved timely and effectively. On the
other side, improvement in presentation skills helped me to present my ideas to others in
professional way. It has been concluded that there is a interrelation among the presentation &
communication skills as development in communication skills automatically improves the
presentation skills of a person.
Along with this, I realized that it is essential to update skills on a continuous basis that
assist me to sustain for longer time period in this competitive world. It is analysed by me that
presentation skills also involves body language, gesture, dressing sense, pitch, tone and so on
which is important to make my presentation remarkable & effective. Furthermore, development
in writing skills supported me to showcase my learning in written to teachers due to which I
gained high grades at the time of my graduation. I also realised that continuous discussion of
particular topic with team members improved my personal relationship with them. To sum up all
this, it is stated that improvement in this skills build opportunities for me to enhance my career in
better way.
CONCLUSION
From the above report, it has been analysed that it is essential to maintain portfolio as it
assist in providing proper information about skills, competencies and abilities of a student to the
companies. In order to conduct research appropriately, there are different needed such as data
interpretation, presentation, critical thinking, problem solving, communication and many more.
Improvement in this skills help a student to achieve success rapidly as well as effectively.
